RE: iPhone accessory that may be of interest

2019-01-04 Thread Simon Fogarty
Yeah it is an interesting idea, but yeah I don't know why people are getting
excited.
I'm a keyboard user it's just a different option if people were interested.

Hey Simon,

Posting this has been quite the adventure on this list. I actually have that
very keyboard, and I also love it! Everyone seems to think that I’m jumping up
and down to buy this thing. I have no interest in it whatsoever. I just think
it’s interesting, and that it might appeal to some people. But that seems to be
lost on list members. 

Donna

RE: unmuting a Mac

Orpossibly you have done a three finger double tap on the touch pad to silence
vo.
I keep doing this some how.

Well, at least on the Mac a mute can be reversed with volume keys also. I
believe F10 is mute, F11 is volume down and F12 is volume up on most Apple
keyboards. Generally I have to use the Fn key with these. Also, in the sounds
system settings area is a play tone while adjusting volume setting you should
make sure this is checked.

BTW. I am still considering your multiple window issue and will probably write
up a tutorial on this. But there is an option in System Settings -> General
about weather to re-open closed windows when an app launches.

Take care,

Jonathan

Hi Donna,

Yes thanks it was interesting,
People are trying to do great work out there but still a KB is just as good in
my mind.

I've sent it on to a NZ iPhone users group I'm in so that they can have a look
at what is out there.

Hi Donna,

Have you looked at the iClever BT keyboard?
I have one and it's great, folds in to a size pretty close to that of my iPhone

I think it's the BK03 model, tri foldeing keyboard,

I got mine from amazon.com for about 30 US dollars.

No worries, Alia, it didn't come across that way.

Yes, a good BT keyboard would do the same thing, but I've yet to find one of
those that fits comfortably in my purse, whereas it looks like this device
would. The other thought that occurred to me is that, now that iPhones cost
more than some computers, you could leave your iPhone put away, in a purse, a
drawer, whatever, and use this $300 device instead.

2019-01-04 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi folks,

Yea I have to agree,

the great things about technology today is that we can now use with less
troubles the same devices that the sighted world use no real need for the
production of 3rd party products like years ago to make things usable.

Accessibility is built in to our devices thanks to such companys as Apple and
Google with android and the different Mac OS ranges.
I use my phone all the time for different things, only when I know I’m going to
need to do a lot of typing do I use my iClever bt keyboard with it.
Otherwise I just use the IOS KB

Hi Alia,

Basically, I agree. If it provided a better typing solution I might have gone
for it, but I'm perfectly comfortable using the touch screen, so have little
interest in using a device such as this for iPhone operation. However, if
someone has fine motor challenges or something like that, being able to use
physical buttons might be helpful. Like I said, I don't think it'll be for
everyone, but I do think it will appeal to some. I figure it's always good to

Replaying Visual VoiceMail Message

2019-01-04 Thread Pete De Vasto
Hi everyone,

AT is my provider, and I’ve got the latest version of iOS on my iPhone SE.
They have me using Visual VoiceMail, and whenever I get a message, I can play
it once but it always goes through the earpiece. My problem is that I can only
play the message once. I’d like to be able to listen again through the speaker,
but although I can get to the speaker button, double-tapping it doesn’t seem to
change anything. And worse, I cannot replay that message, or for that matter,
any other message that’s been already played. Has anyone else experienced this
difficulty? If so, what have you done to get it resolved? I don’t think this is
a VoiceOver issue, but then again, I wanted to ask just to make sure.

Thanks for any help,
Pete

Re: Boot camping windows 10

2019-01-04 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
There's a very simple rule about all such questions: Keep it simple.

The more you ask of the process by way of additional drivers, the more
ways you introduce by which things can go wrong. Why would you do that?

To my mind this is not a legitimate request. Your installation
environment is a temporary environment that you leave forever once the
deed is done. This is why I suggest it's not a legitimate requirement.
It would be different as a day to day operational requirement.

So, my answer to you is maybe yes, and maybe no. Who knows? Even if one
BT device works during Bootcamp Windows installation, it does not follow
that the next BT device will also work.

Keep it simple. Get the installation done, make sure all the latest
drivers for Windows under Bootcamp as provided by Apple are installed,
then worry about complications like alternate keyboards, braille
displayes, external speakers, etc., etc., etc.

Just my 2 cents after countless years of installing this, that, and that
other thing.
