New Braille Cursor in IOS when using Braille display.

2020-08-15 Thread 'Kawal Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Hi All.

Recently after updating my I Phone to the latest firmware I had to use my Focus
14 to imput a message using the Braille display and noticed there is a new
braille cursor so you know where your cursor is when you need to correct a word
or edit a word or delete something.

I thought that was great. Has anyone else noticed this?

I wish that Braille imput was good as IOS as using Mac OS is rubbish.

Kawal.

Braille input with MacOS.

2020-08-15 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Has anybody been able to edit using a braille display on MacOS. Even the
simple phrase:
"This is a test."
when I type into the Mail App on the latest Catalina, if I then click the
routing button above the 'st' and then press delete (either dot 7 or space with
dot 7) ends up deleting the character, character 'e', but then as soon as I
move away, or braille translation occurs, the word test shows up twice, once as
the corrected version and once as originally written.
This also happens to me when using an older OS. I thought I had this behavior
corrected but changing text verbosity setting to speak character before point,
but this made no difference.

Is this a quark with braille input since there is not always a direct
translation, even with UEB, a strangeness with working with a Brilliant bi or
something entirely different.
Note, usually, I only use braille for teaching myself, or to try and reproduce
issues clients have found and I have had no formal braille training. I would
like to use Braille for editing some code, but if I can't trust it to be
consistent, that would be a problem.

Thanks!
Jonathan

Re: reducing the size of Quicktime movie files?

2020-08-15 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
Donna,
I know that QuickTime does have a menu option to save compressed versions of
QuickTime movies. I also understand that there are external applications that
could compress movie files. I believe Sorenson is one of them.
