interesting. My mom's not all that particular about having the latest and
greatest, so if it's slow under both Big Sur and Catalina, maybe I will just
leave it with its current OS.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?

2021-04-18 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
I have a late 2013 model MacBook Pro that is running Big Sur without any
apparent issues (apart from known Big Sur bugs, of course).

It's probably faster than your MacBook Air. Performance is rather slow,
but not obviously more so than under Catalina.

I’d just wipe it, and reload High Sierra.
Let the new owner decide what they want to do.

okay then.
my two cents.
Leave the unit running the system best for the hardware itself, something
I imagine is easily discovered by either consulting apple's site or
giving them a call.
Same reasoning however. you want to sell from a place of, I now it works
perfectly right now.
If ou make changes, and there is a problem, the buyer may complaine that
you did not sell them what you advertised.

just my thoughts,

RE: Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?

2021-04-18 Thread Karen Lewellen
Additionally, if you now firmly that the machine runs well with its
current operating system, you do not want to upgrade.

Largely because you cannot guarantee the quality of what you are selling.
Let the buyer decide if they want to make changes after getting a machine
working at its best when you make the sale.

Re: Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?

2021-04-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
I'd use my valuable time because one possibility is that I will give it to my
mom. She's older, and not very techie, so it'd be easier for me to do the
upgrade for her.
Cheers,
Donna

It's not on Catalina, it's still running High Sierra, I think.

BTW while on this overall topic, is it still possible to downgrade from

Re: Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?

2021-04-18 Thread 'Robert Cole' via MacVisionaries
Hi,
I am writing to add my two cents, If it was me, I would leave it on Catalina
and let the new owner upgrade if they want to.
I don’t know how well that model will run Big Sur. This is just my opinion.
Thanks,
Rob

Anyone running Big Sur on a 2013 Macbook Air?

2021-04-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I have a 2013 Macbook Air that I’m getting redy to sell. I’m trying to decide
whether to upgrade it to Big Sur or Catalina. Since I’m going to sell it, VO
issues with Big Sur are not of primary concern. So, is anyone running Big Sur
on one of these Macs? If so, does it run OK?
TIA,
Donna
