An iMessage bug with the latest Big Sur update.

2021-05-26 Thread Herbie Allen
After updating my Mac last night, I am suddenly experiencing something rather
annoying. Now, in Messages when I interact with the conversation table, it
takes me to the beginning of the list instead of where I am at in my
conversations list. Since I have several pinned conversations, this is more
noticeable to me as now I have to go through them in order to get to the rest
of my messages.
Has anyone else experienced this bug?

Re: Logos Bible Software Accessibility Status

2021-05-26 Thread 'Mervin Keck III' via MacVisionaries
Hi,
I used Logos many years ago when I still had some vision in my left eye. I had
well over 3000 resources and really hated losing Logos Platinum Plus additional
resources when I lost the rest of my vision a few years ago. There are a few
Pastors like myself who worked with them in an attempts to increase
accessibility. And some may still be working with them. However, I was informed
maybe five years ago give or take a year that the programmer in charge of
Accessibility was being reassigned to another project. That was a long time ago
and things may have changed. But that was how it was back then. I very dearly
miss those resources. Especially in my current position.

Hi Tim. Thanks for the information. Thankfully, I did buy a new machine last
fall. I've still been using the older MacBook Air occasionally though.

I may look into this, but you are right, $500 would not be worth it.

Thank you,

Hi,

Yes, that sounds like a swolen battery. From a safety prospective, you should
not even be plugging it in anymore, as it is at risk of bursting. I’m doubtful
that you’ll be able to find a battery for that age of MacBook Air. It’s
certainly worth taking it in to an authorized Apple service provider though to
see. My estimation is that it would be up to $500 to replace the battery if it
can be found. That’s also hoping that there’s no damage to anything inside due
too the swollen battery. Finances aside, my thought is that you’d be best to
simply get a new machine. Again, if finances do not permit this in your world,
hopefully, something can be figured out.

Bad News Bears MacBook Air 2011

2021-05-26 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi Al,

Has anyone tried to service an old MacBook? Is this something the Apple Store
will still do?

My assumption here as I'm going to need the battery replaced. I opened up my
old MacBook Air, and the trackpad is lifted upward. The battery is also
nonresponsive. It remains at 0%, power connected, not charging.

What are your thoughts? Is it worth it? I have no idea how much it might cost.

Thank you,
Traci

Re: A basic Mail question

I can’t get this one to work.
When I have interacted with the Mailbox table, this command moves one item at a
time.
When I have not interacted with the Mailbox table, this command does nothing.

I am using Apple Mail on my Mac mini running Big Sur 11.4.
I have my VO modifier set to be CMD + OPT

Re: A basic Mail question

2021-05-26 Thread Brad Snyder

Try using OPT + UpArrow, to go to the top of a mailbox list, and OPT +
DownArrow, to go to the bottom of the list.

HTH.

Hi,

I've started using Mac Mail more frequently, but I'm not finding the
keyboard shortcut to jump to the top (or bottom) of a list. For example
when in a mailbox on the list of all the messages in that mailbox, how
do I jump to the top of the list? And how to the bottom of the list?

It's a simple basic question, but I've failed to find the answer. Must
be looking in all the wrong places!

Thanks in advance,

Janina
