Duplicate Music playlist

2023-02-01 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all, there is this annoyance in music where several playlists are being
duplicated. Say I have dinner jazz, then music creates dinner jazz1. There
doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason. It’s happened to half a dozen or more.

Any ideas why this is happening or how I can prevent it. I really dislike the
Mac OS music app.

Thanks,
Traci

Hello all,
while talking with someone about using the COVID home tests, I got to
wondering if either of the above mentioned services and assist with setting up
and reading the test results. Comments?

I have not used either service so would like feedback on them, of either
is better or if both have value. and how much they cost. Thanks very much.

Re: Hiding Apps

2023-02-01 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries
Actually, just as with iOS, there is an option to hide apps on apps
purchased from the Mac app store. The option simply is not seen by
Voiceover. This started with Monterey of not earlier.

Get sighted help, go to the Mac app store, select your account and
there under Purchased items, pick any app and to the right of the Open
or Redownload buttons there is a dropdown menu.

I don’t believe that this is possible.  That is, apps that you have

Well, perhaps someone else can chime in on this, as I am not
completely sure on this matter.  However, the same is true, for
instance, if you make a purchase on Amazon.com ,
return the item for whatever reason, you will certainly see a record of
both the order, as well as the status of the return.

Re: Hiding Apps

2023-02-01 Thread Erik Heil
Hello,
I don’t believe that this is possible. That is, apps that you have purchased
cannot be deleted from your account. I believe that this is simply due to the
legal requirement for record keeping and the such. Well, perhaps someone else
can chime in on this, as I am not completely sure on this matter. However, the
same is true, for instance, if you make a purchase on Amazon.com
, return the item for whatever reason, you will certainly
see a record of both the order, as well as the status of the return.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good smart plug?

2023-02-01 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I guess the app has a kind of scanner function to let you scan this thing?
It sometimes does not work for me either but for me it was a device with a heat
pump.
What you could try is to open the control center and find the code scanner or
qr scanner feature that’s built-in to the iPhone.
TO encourage you, this is a big issue for me to.
Its quite secure but not fun to work with as you have found out.

It could be the cable or the usb port on your Mac or the hard disk.
Though I have never come a cross a bad usb port on a Mac but on my hard disks.

Can anyone recommend a good smart plug?

2023-02-01 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

We have been using Wemo smart plugs in our house. I chose Wemo because the app
is mostly accessible, which, as Janina pointed out the other day, is about as
good as it gets for much of the smart home technology. We recently bought two
new outlets to replace two that repeatedly disappeared from the network. We’ve
spent the past hour trying to scan the QR code for the first one with no luck.
My sighted husband has been trying to scan the code in the instructions, and I
have also tried holding the phone near the outlet, as per the instructions.
Neither has worked. I’m pretty fed up with Wemo right now.
1. Does anyone know how to resolve the QR code issue?
2. Alternatively, is there another smart outlet that anyone has had good luck
with?
TIA,
Donna

The keyboard command CMD + OPT + Escape, will open the Force Quit dialog.
Using CMD + OPT + Shift + Escape, will Force Quit the current app, or restart
Finder without opening the Force Quit dialog.

HTH.

Re: Disappearing External Drive and Finder issue

2023-02-01 Thread Bradford Snyder
If the drive is formatted NTFS, I recommend reformatting the drive to XFAT.
There are other options, but I like XFAT because it can be read by Windows as
well as Mac.

Re: Disappearing External Drive and Finder issue

2023-02-01 Thread Kaare Dehard
There is an issue with finder on and off in Ventura. If it gives the no window
message cmd-option-escape will allow you to re-launch the finder and may solve
the concern.

Re: Disappearing External Drive and Finder issue

2023-02-01 Thread 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries
Thanks. This is not an older Mac, it’s a 2020 M1. SO I guess I will
disconnect all the external drives, all three of them, and restart. I
neglected to say that when the Finder stops working, I have to open a program
like Mail to shut down the computer at all, and it might take it several
minutes to do it.

I just disconnected all the external drives, I have three, and I hope I don’t
lose them all as one of them is my Time Machine backup. The Mac turned on very
quickly. SO Now I guess I will start trying to reconnect these things. What
fun.

Disappearing External Drive and Finder issue

2023-02-01 Thread 'Mary Ward' via MacVisionaries
Hello. I bought a nice big hard disc to store books, movies, and music on. It
is connected to my Mac mini via a cable. I got messages saying that it had not
been ejected properly, though, of course, it had not been ejected at all. If I
try to go to my external drives, the finder just stops working altogether. SO
right now, I am running first aid on the one of them that I can see. But is
there anything else I can do besides either give up or call AppleCare? By the
way, when the Finder stops working, I can’t open files from anywhere and apps
like TextEdit won’t launch either, though Mail and Safari still work. Does
this necessarily mean that the external disc is corrupted? Do I need to go
further than just the Disc Utility? Thanks for any guidance.

My poor, ailing Mac!

I had an easier time finding it by searching for the word Beta. Keep in mind
though it is Beta software, and if you are not comfortable with buggy things,
it may not be something to try just yet.

Re: IOS 16.3 How to get Safari to read an html file in iCloud drive

One way I can think of is to put the file in your downloads folder. You should
then see that folder in Safari and it might open the html that way. I wonder if
it can also be done in the context menu but not sure.

RE: Accessible Whatsapp Client

2023-02-01 Thread Lucas Gil Nadolskis
If you click the link that is on the email it will bring you to an article.

On that you just use voice over to find the official whatsapp website.

Then search for mac OS beta version, and the link is there.

Let me know if you can’t find it.

Thanks.

Hey all. If you're still looking for an accessible Whatsapp client, I have good

IOS 16.3 How to get Safari to read an html file in iCloud drive

2023-02-01 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am running IOS 16.3 on my iPhone SE 2020.
I have a html file on my iCloud drive which I want to read with Safari. If I
locate the file via the Files App and double tap on it the html file gets
loaded into Voicedream reader which I do not want as the html file contains
links to web resources which do not work in Voicedream reader.
Is there any way to choose which App you want to use in IOS to process a chosen
file on my iCloud drive?
Alternatively is there anything I can do in Safari on IOS to point it to a file
in the Files App?
Many thanks for any tips.
Best regards … Paul Hopewell
