Amadeus Pro Question

2020-09-02 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hi folks,
I am considering amadeus pro.
I am using it during its trial period.
Here’s my question.
I have recorded a sound file, a voice file. Now, I wish to add a bit somewhere
in the middle. As a VoiceOver user, how would I do this with the keyboard?

Thanks.

Re: How to stop and start recording within the same file using Quicktime?

2020-02-04 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello,
While I have not found any way to pause and resume, there is a way to accomplish
a similar conclusion.
This is what I do.

1. open quick time.
2. setup for an audio recording.
3. Move to the record play button and press the space bar and start talking.
4. When done with this first file, I press space to stop the recording.
5. Press Command S and save the file with a name, something like 01.
6. Close that file.
7. Start a new audio recording.
9. contenu talking where you left off.
10. Save that file as 02.
11. Close this file.

12. Open the first file, 01.
14. Go to the edit menu and select add clip to end and activate it.
15. Go to open and open the second file, 02.
17. Press done.
Exit and save the new file with a name that applies to your recording.
Now, you can open this new file and you will hear a smoothly spliced file.
Hope this helps.

Editingg files in voiceMemos on my Mac

2020-01-31 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello list,
I am wishing to trim a portion of a voice memos recording.
I’m using 10.15.3.
When I attempt to use the timeline to trim, I don’t get any feedback.
Does any one know how to trim using VoiceOver using the keyboard only?
Thanks.

Re: A question regarding passwords on my mac mini

2019-11-19 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hi,
Ok, here’s what I found after asking the question.

When making a Firmware password, you can only use standard alpha numeric. You
can not use things like å.

However, it’s ok to use whatever I want in login passwords for accounts.
I tested this and it appears to work accordingly.

When I attempted to create a firmware password using extended ascii, I got a
message that only alpha numeric can be used.
Then when I changed my user login password, I was able to use anything i
attempted.

Later.

Re: Good Quality Speakers for the Mac Mini

2019-06-12 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello,
First off.
I love these speakers. They really do what I want. I’ll be using them both in
OS 10 and Windows 10 under bootcamp.
Crazy sounds. For $30, the apeakers do ok.
I did somplaying around with the EQ in Mac iTunes and again, with some of my
music, darn good for the price.

 these are bookshelf speakers.

USB powered and USB audio supplied.

it has a jack and a complementary 3.5 mm male to male cord for other
audio devices to play into the speakers. if anybody's interested I
 ordered this from Amazon.

 It should be here tomorrow.

they cost around $30 US. so the reason I got these was because the USB
connection supplies both power to the speakers and has the sound card for

 Thus only using one connection.

Will be interesting to see how these things work, I sure hope they do a
 good job.

Hello,
On my 2018 Mac Mini and with the 1903 windows 10 install, Boot Camp switching
to Mac works just fine. Perhaps it has to do with older machines, I don’t know,
just guessing.

Re: Windows 10 1803 cboot camp ctrl pannel error

2019-05-23 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello,
you will probably need to shut down you windows side of the machine.
Then restart with Command R.
Then you can either arrow left or right to the windows or mac partition and
restart.
Or you can also, after entering into recovery mode, after a few minutes, hit
Commend F5 to start VO.
Then hit the Q for quit and follow the restart pormpts to get back into mac.

Windows 10 has been installed.

2019-05-22 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hi list,
Earlyer today, I had a bunch of questions regarding installing win 10 1903.
Well, it’s done.
First thanks to the podcast that was posted.
Secondly thanks to my GoPro microphone. It’s a usb microphone with headphone
jack.
With earphones connected to the GoPro I was not only able to run Narrator, but
I was also able, through the microphone hear the state of the computers
restarting status.
For example, when the low level driver activated, the microphone was at a lower
volume. But after the microphone was completely active, it would switch to
normal volume letting me know that it was probably time to launch Narrator.
Fantastick.
Thanks to all who gave suggestions and pointers.

Further questions regarding Windows 10 1903 install on my 2018 Mac Mini 10.14.5.

2019-05-22 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello list,

Here are several questions regarding installing Windows 10 on my 2018 Mac Mini
using Boot Camp under 10.14.5.
Some of my questions have to do with avoiding problems that people, including
myself, had had in the past, regarding installing or uninstalling Windows 10.
As well as making sure that I can maximize the install and prevent as many
problems as possible.
If I’m rehashing old already answered questions, I apologize in advance but I
only want to get Windows 10 correctly installed the first time.

I just downloaded the Win 10 1903 english ISO file.

As always I have a few questions.

What, if any problems, can I expect due to the T2 chip?

Because FileVault through the T2 chip encrypts the whole disk, will I have
problems with Windows if I reactivate FileVault after installing Windows?

Today I spoke with both Apple Accessibility and Windows Disability services.
Regarding getting audio during the Windows install in order to use Narrator.

Before I go any further with this topic, I understand that Apple is only going
to give support for its products and likewise for Microsoft and Windows.

So as far as I’m concerned,a gray area exists due to working with both
operating systems.

Without trying to become a really pesky bother, I’m attempting to reduce as
much as possible any problems during installation of Windows 10 1903 from
scratch.

Again, this is a Mac Mini 2018 year machine, 16 GB memory, 500 GB SSD and an i7
processor.

So Apple said that they didn’t think that audio would work during the install.
of windows after Boot Camp switches to Windows.

Microsoft said after two calls to them that either 3.5 MM or USB head phone
would work.

While I know that in different ways, this has been answered before, what do any
of you think regarding Narrator useability during initial Windows install after
Boot Camp restarts in Windows setup.

Then I have a question regarding Filevault.

Now that my nachine has the T2 chip, what’s the real situation regarding using
Filevault after windows has been installed?

I will not have anyone arround to look at a screen during this install process,
that’s why all the concern.

Again, I suppose some of you are probably getting tired of my questions, but I
really would like to be as certain as possible that all will work ok with
speech.

Thanks.

I just downloaded the Win 10 2019.03 file, now some questions.

2019-05-22 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello list,
As the subject says, I just downloaded the latest release of windows 10.
Now some questions.

The T2 Chip.
By default the T2 chip is set to no boot from external drives. Does this
include additional bootable partitions such as that created using Boot Camp?
Should I set the security boot app in the recovery partition to allow booting
from other drives?

Filevault.
While I know that I should disable Filevault while installing Windows, can I
reactivate it after the installation is done? Or will this have adverse affects?

Audio.
Will the T2 chip pose problems with 3.5 MM headphones use while installing
windows using Narrator?

Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks guys.

Hello Simon,
Here’s the link i used.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO
<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO>

Only the updates from 2018 are available. Is there another page I should use?
Also, can this release be used as an installer for Boot Camp from scratch?
Thanks.

I know there were some problems with installing the October 2018 release of

Here’s my question.
When will this year’s April release be available for mac users to download and

2019-05-08 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hi Simon,
Thanks. Sometimes I feel a little uncertanty about installing windows due to
all the different experiences we all have had over the last several years.
So again, I really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Hi,
This discussion has come up regarding older mac minis. Can I use headphones
while installing windows using narrator, or will I have to use an external
sound card? Of course, I’m talking about the windows install process as a
totally blind person.

Hello,
Thanks for the info regarding the sound card.
At this point, I’m not sure it’s even worth it. I’ll have to do a little
research and ask some additional questions before even attempting to install
Windows.
Do VMs work ok with the built-in sound card on the Mac Mini?

Hi,
NVDA is what I’ll be using as well as Narrator. But NVDA is my first choice.
This is what I was using when I had Windows 10 installed on my older MBP.

Hello,
Well, I don’t know what to say other than that my boes headphones with 3.5 mm
jack work just fine while installing windows 10 on my MBP mid 2014. While the
laptop speakers don’t work till windows comes up with the drivers, for some
reason the 3.5 mm connector works just fine.

Your product key will register you and your machine with Microsoft.
So, should you need to reinstall on the same machine, this will
just be handled for you in the background.

By the way what was the resolution to your earlier failures? Tell
us a little of how that got resolved, please.

Hello,
Ok. Guess I’ll call Microsoft and hope they will answer my question.

Thinking about running windows 10 on my MBP but first a few questions

2018-11-25 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello,
I’m considering running windows on my MBP mid 2014 machine running the latest
OS Mojave.
I have a few questions.
Can I use an external hard drive in place of a usb 2.0 flash drive?
How long can I run windows 10 for free before I have to purchase it?
At what point can I begin using Narrator to complete the setup? Or should I
have eyes present.
Thanks for any assistance.

VoiceMemos on my Mac

2018-09-24 Thread 'Danny Keys' via MacVisionaries
Hello,
I just updated my MBP today. So far, VoiceMemos is a nonstarter. It is
impossible to do any editing in this app. Too bad. I was hoping that because it
was placing audio files in the cloud that I could edit them on either my Mac or
iPhone. But, certainly not while using VoiceOver under either OS.
I would have thought that by now, VoiceMemos would have been made to work with
all its features while using VoiceOver.
