Re: Few questions regarding my Mac laptop

2018-05-05 Thread Ben Constantini
Hi Terri, I used to use Zoomtext on my old PC , but I found that the Zoom on
the mac works much better . It has been awhile since I set it up but once you
turn Zoom on in the settings ,you can go into the Trackpad preferences and turn
on the trackpad gestures setting . Once you do this all you need to to do is
press control and flick up with two fingers to increase magnification and flick
down with two fingers to decrease magnification .If you have any problems email
me and I will look up the exact settings .

Re: Sirius xm app

2017-04-24 Thread Ben Constantini
Matthew , I can also connect my Sirius receiver to my stereo by running a cable
from the antenna jack on the front of the radio to the input jack on the stereo
. You can also buy a docking unit from Sirius and hook it up that way .

Stacy, I believe when you download the app , they will offer you the free
trial before you sign in I have been using Sirius since 2005 . I originally
just had the radio and was paying $13 per month . Last November I upgraded to
ALL ACCESS and I think I am paying about $229 per year . With ALL ACCESS I can
listen to Sirius on my stereo , mac , iPhone and iPad . .
Hope this helps .

Hi Brian , I have been using zoom for about 5 years and here is what I do. I
have my mac set up so when I hold down the control key and swipe up with 2
fingers on the track pad it will zoom in . And when I am done logging in I
hold down the control key and swipe down with 2 fingers it zooms out again .
This works well for me . Just a thought .

Re: updating adobe flash player on the Mac

2015-03-24 Thread Ben Constantini
Just another note. I had a problem yesterday updating Adobe Flash Player . No
matter what I did the download kept freezing at 25 per cent . After beating my
head against the wall for a couple of days , I tried temporarily disabling my
anti -virus program and it finally worked . I noticed you also have to close
your Safari browser also.
Just wanted to add my two cents in.

 Hello,
I am stumped on this one. Can anybody tell me what is the best way to update
flash player for the Mac using VoiceOver? Every time I try to run the

this, it says this item was removed. Does this mean the installation is
completed without VoiceOver giving me this message? I don’t think it is,
because when I try to play content, nothing happens. If I press command q to
quit, it says quit host, and brings up Safari with the message that Adobe
Flash player can not be installed. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

This is strange, what issues are you having? The reason that I post this,
is honestly, over the past two weeks I have found voice over and Safari to
be remarkably more accessible with Facebook then what i have in the past.
Are you using the main site, or the mobile site? I am currently using the
main www.facebook.com site, and I have noticed that there are a couple
more sections that you can interact with called Scrollable region group
and this appears, if you click on the notifications button for example. If
you interact with a scrollable region, you're presented with your
notifications. Clicking on the notification that you were looking for with
control option space Will activate that notification. In addition, I'm
seeing these Scrollable region groups pop up periodically throughout
Facebook, especially on the page administration side as well.
In addition, when I was posting a status update the other day, and tagging
a friend in the status update, voiceover used to not announce the names
without interacting with that combo box. Automatically, voiceover begin
announcing the name of my friend as I was typing her name, then, when I
pressed just the down arrow key, I was able to successfully go through all
of my friends whose names begin with the letter M. In addition, this
functionality was also expanded to the check in dialog box, I was able to
type in the letters empow, and successfully press down arrow wants to
hear voiceover announce empowering the blind, 3 miles, and then press tab
to be able to select this option. I selected post, and posted my status.

Apparently something to do with the code that Facebook uses prevents the

the control, option, command, H keystroke to navigate through headings and
see if this makes Facebook more user-friendly for you?

Hello Ben. If your wife doesn’t do anything that requires the use of

Microsoft Office then her best bet would be to use Microsoft Windows for
Microsoft Office related tasks. There is IWork on the Mac but the
accessibility of these products has not reached the level of maturity I
require as they relate to accessibility. If she wants to use Windows on her
Mac, she has two viable options, VMware Fusion or Bootcamp. If she uses
VMWare Fusion, then she will be able to install Windows without sighted
assistance. Windows and the MAC Operating systems run at the same time. JAWS
works in this environment with Windows and so does Office. There are
tradeoffs however. First, since the Operating systems share resources there
can be performance issues particularly with applicatios like Kurzweil 1000
and Open Book. On the other hand, if she decides tu use Bootcamp then she
will have a dual boot system. She will need sighted assistance to install
Windows. However, the OS that is running has all of the machine’s resources.
Finally, whenever she makes changes to VMWare Fusion, she loses a JAWS
activation. Freedom Scientific will give her grief if she needs to request
 too many key resets.

On my mac laptop I use a combination of voiceover and zoom to navigate around.

My wife is totally blind and uses Jaws with Vista. She is thinking of taking
