Creating A temporary UrL?

2020-03-27 Thread J. Cyr
Good Evening,
I was wondering, is there a web platform or web host that would allow you to
put up a page (short term)? I'm thinking of a page with information on it, no
links or interactive elements. It would need to be accessible to the public
since its primary purpose would be to have an url to share.

If there is such a platform then would I be able to work with it/set things up
using voice over, either on the Mac or with IOS?

Thank you very much for any and all suggestions.
Joy

Re: Dragging And Dropping With VO In Catalina

2020-02-27 Thread J. Cyr
Thanks Tim and ET. The mouse commands were the ones I was/am using. (Always
good to be sure I remembered them correctly Thank You!). The problem seems to
be intermittent so I must be doing something wrong.

Tim, I've mainly tried to drag and dropfrom documents to the desk top, and vise
versa.
I have more than seven hundred items to move (the Mac was not well set up) so
I really want to get this working smoothly. Incidentally any suggestions on
how to simplify and make the moving of all these files and folders as quick
and easy as possible would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for the help,
Joy

Hi,

The VO-period and VO-comma commands for dragging and dropping are primarily for
very short distance movement and have numerous limitations. You may wish to
use the older Drag & Drop method whereby you use VO-cmd-shift-space to invoke
the mouse-down action, then move to wherever you're wishing to move, then use
the same key combination to invoke the mouse-up action to drop the item in the
new location. Again, there are some limitations to this as well, but it works
much better in many situations. What were you attempting to drag and drop and
from where to where?

Re: Refreshing iCloud Drive

2020-02-21 Thread J. Cyr
I ran into this issue with the Notes App just yesterday. Being very new to
the Mac I presumed I was missing something or doing it wrong and called Apple
Accessibility. After going through everything he knew to do the rep assisting
me concluded that it was a technical problem, referred it to the correct
department and arranged a call back with me next week. Very interesting to
hear I may not be the only one experiencing this problem.

Re: Reading by sentence in books app

2020-02-16 Thread J. Cyr
I changed my vo key to caps lock and I'm so happy I did, just pressing the one
key makes things so much simpler especially when working those multi key combos.

On Feb 16, 2020, at 3:15 PM, Phil Halton wrote:

As we know, the voice over command to read by sentence is VO plus command plus
page up and page down. On the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, this means one must
hold down with the left-hand the function, control, option, and command keys
while pressing the up or down arrow keys with the right hand..
those are the four keys to the left of the spacebar and for those of us with
carpal tunnel, this can become a crippling position after some time. my
solution is to use a “chip clip“ to firmly hold these keys in place which
allows me to then operate the arrow keys with a single finger of either hand,
and this greatly relieves the stress I would otherwise experience in the left
hand nerves. I imagine that a clipboard would also work as long as the jaw of
the clip was at least as wide as those four keys, but I wonder if the intense
pressure of a metal clipboard might not damage the keyboard itself. As it is,
the plastic chip clip has enough force to hold the keys down but I don’t think
enough to damage the keyboard.
by the way, if anybody doesn’t know what I mean by a “chip clip“, it’s
basically a plastic wide clip used to reseal a bag of potato chips after it’s
been opened. And they can be found at any grocery store. Anyway, that’s my
solution for a problem that was threatening to keep me from being able to read
in the Books app or on any app that requires use of a keyboard. I know there’s
another fellow on this list with carpal tunnel and maybe he can get some ideas
from this. Sent from my IPhone

We're just SOL as far as I'm aware. I've made noise to the powers that be, but
the noise fell on deaf ears.

Re: Outlook On IMac

2020-02-08 Thread J. Cyr
Unfortunately the mail is on the computer. Is there a way to upload it to the
server? And would that simplify things? Or should I keep any transfer on the
machine?

Outlook On IMac

2020-02-07 Thread J. Cyr
Good day,
I recently switched from a (Older) Microsoft PC to my new IMac. To put it
mildly I'm just fumbling around at the moment. I was wondering, is there a
guide for how to use Outlook (preferably using Voice Over)? And? Is Outlook
really the most accessible email app?

Any and all advice and suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks,
Joy
