Re: DTMF entry during a FaceTime call

2018-06-07 Thread Robert Hill
Hi to all,

Thank you to Tim and Brian for providing a solution to this issue.

I had been trying to work with Apple for quite some time to get this resolved
with no success.

Your work is much appreciated.

Bob Hill.

Re: DTMF entry during a FaceTime call

2018-06-07 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

What is likely happening in your case has to do with the VO cursor. In the
Navigation category of the VO Utility, if your mouse pointer ignores the VO
cursor, then the VO-shift-space that Brian mentioned does not click the correct
area. You can do a few different things here. First, you could change that
setting in the VO Utility to have the mouse pointer follow the VO cursor, then
when you perform the VO-shift-space the touch-tones should work.
Alternatively, when you make the call, there is a special notification that is
displayed, so, press VO-n to bring focus to that notification area, press
VO-cmd-f5 to bring the mouse to the VO cursor, then perform the VO-shift-space
as mentioned. In either case, the touch-tone should work for you.

Later...

2018-06-07 Thread Brian Hansen
Try going into your VO Utilities using VO-F8, then down to Navigation, and make
sure that the mouse follows the VO cursor. A friend of mine had this same
problem, and if I’m remembering correctly, this is how we fixed it.

Re: DTMF entry during a FaceTime call

2018-06-06 Thread Brian Hansen
When placing a call on your Mac using FaceTime, once the call is connected to
your bank, or where ever you want to access an automated system, just hit
Shift-VO-Space when the call is connected, and you will be able to manually
enter in digits just as if you were using a regular phone.

Blessings,

Brian

Thank you – this is very useful to know. Of course, it doesn’t work if the
proper digit string to be entered isn’t known in advance.

Hi Jason,

What I have experienced is that dtmf tones cannot be generated once a call has
connected in facetime.

What I have had to do is enter the number I want to call, then insert commas to
create pauses in my dialing string until the system answers, then enter the
desired number to activate the feature.

So for example I enter the string tor a weather service I use, then enter 10
commas to paust until the system answers, then enter the correct digits to
activate the option I wish tu use.

Once the call is connected, I cannot use tones to go to other choices.

DTMF entry during a FaceTime call

2018-06-05 Thread 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries
Is it possible to generate DTMF tones whilst on a FaceTime call, as with a
telephone keypad?

If I call an interactive voice response system, I usually need to be able to
enter digits and the pound key, at least. I found an indication via a Web
search that FaceTime supports this, but it didn’t work when I tried it by
typing digits while the FaceTime window had focus during a call.
