Because it didn't on my old 2011 MBP, I didn't even realize that it may have worked on my new 2017 model, so I can't confirm how it worked in High Sierra. Anyway, in Mojave, in the Login Options area of the Users & Groups System Preference pane, there is now a button named "Accessibility Options". Press on this and check which accessibility option you'd like at the login screen and it works both at the regular Login screen and at the File Vault version of the login screen. One more thing to mention, I said that you needed your account name at the File Vault login prompt, but that is inaccurate now as well. I finally got it working; I’m not sure what happened, but it was apparently trying to either install or reinstall Mac OS, and couldn’t, so I called Apple, and they helped me perform the command that forced it to restart from the hard drive, and now it’s working again. > On Nov 6, 2018, at 10:43 AM, 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > Simon, > > You're probably right. Re: File vault on macs with youch bars.
Hi, Hold the power button down for 6 to 10 seconds then release. Wait another five seconds then press the power button. Wait another five seconds or so, then hold down the command key while pressing the power button three times quickly. You should hear a VO voice say, "Username". Enter your username then press return. Remember that the username is the name of your account. If the IT guys set it up with your name as the user account, then it should be your name in lower case with no spaces. After you press return, VO should announce "Password". Enter the password and you should be on your way. Best. I’ve tried this multiple times with no luck. One reason seems to be that I can’t tell if it’s powered on or not, then on top of that, there appears to be a guest account that the person setting it up forgot to delete, and I haven’t figoured out even with sighted assistance how to get around it, because keystrokes do nothing. Re: File vault on macs with youch bars.
Hi, To add to this, the finger print sensor is not active until the main MacOS is up and running. That is, you will need to enter your username, then press return, enter your password, then press return. It will take a little longer to get to the Finder than it normally would when File Vault is enabled, but should be up in less than a minute. Later... Press and hold the command key and press the finger print sensor button three quick times to turn on VoiceOver. If Filevault is on, you should get the prompt to log in. > On Nov 5, 2018, at 1:46 PM, Jessica Moss wrote: > > I’ve just acquired what I didn’t know was a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar, > that DBS purchased me, only that they’d purchased me a replacement model for > my job. Hi, Try pressing and holding command, then pressing the Touch ID sensor three times while still holding it down. This should get you VO. File vault on macs with youch bars.
I’ve just acquired what I didn’t know was a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar, that DBS purchased me, only that they’d purchased me a replacement model for my job. So I was a little surprised to find this out when they came to help me get it set up, and everything went well until they left, it went to sleep, and I couldn’t seem to be able to wake it up. So I powered it off then back on, only to have forgotten there’s no sound when starting it up, so I can’t tell if the fingerprint sender is working, which I know we set up and it took, so at the moment, I can’t get it to do a thing.
