Re: I'm not disappointed but am looking forward.
I too went to the Apple store this afternoon along with my wife. I was impressed with the weight shape and size of the watches. Joanne already gave a very accurate description of the watches so it doesn't need repeating. Though more expensive I chose to purchase the 42mm stainless steel watch with ;the magnetic strap. This strap is much easier to put on then the basic strap that comes with the sports watch in my opinion. My wife came with me and surprisingly decided to buy one for herself as well. The 4 millimetre size difference didn't seem very significant but I was able to tap with 3 fingers if I did it diagonally. So that tiny bit of real-estate might come in handy. Unfortunately, the demos do not have VoiceOver available. It is important to remember as well that there is a 15 day trial period so if for some reason you don't like it or find it beneficial enough simply return it. RE: I'm not disappointed but am looking forward.
Hi, Thanks to all of you who gave us feedback after visiting an Apple store I have one question. Although you could not hear voiceover because the watches were set to be demos, was there any opportunity to hear anything from the watch's speaker? Knowing Apple products, the speaker is probably clear, but, since the watches are small, I wonder how clear. Hello. Just got back from the Apple store, after a Taxi ride, train ride and a 45 minute walk. So the representative took me to the table and bought the selection of watches to me. Before I felt the watches, I asked him if he could enable voice over for me. He told me that all the watches were demos and there was a set demo program. He said that Accessibility was not on these watches. When I asked him why, he said he could not tell me. So first of all, I took the silver sports watch in my hand. The watch was very light. In fact, it felt like a normal sighted watch, something that a woman would wear. The 38 Millimetre watches are for women. I thought it very elegant and for the fact that I could remove the straps myself without having to go to a jewellers was a plus for me. If a strap was broken for instance, you'd pay at least £3.99 to get another strap. I also felt the melanese bracelet. I asked if one could buy the bracelet if you had a sports watch and they said yes. I then felt all the straps and the stainless steal watch. That I thought was definitely for a man as it was heavier and thicker. The person told me that it was thicker because of the crystal saffire glass. My only disappointment was that I could not hear voice over. The person who said that the steal watch felt like a toffee, I could understand that and I'd not go for that model. I'm going to purchase the Silver sports watch along with the Bracelet. For those of you who are not in favour of the watches, do not have to buy. I know someone who said to me that they were not going to buy the watch, but low and behold, is getting the watch now. I knew he would. Now I've seen the watch, I'm looking forward to mine. I'm not mad on Apple products but like Apple because of the accessibility built in. If I were sighted, I'd have a choice of what I could have as my gadgets but for the fact, I am limited as to what I can have, i.e. a Braille watch, or a normal conventional talking watch. I had a Braille watch for than 20 years but they would always go wrong, perhaps because of my hair or my dog's hair, I don't know. I hate the conventional speaking watch because of the voices. If Alex is on my Apple watch then I'll be pleased. Just one more thing to ponder, can you pair a braille display as the watch has bluetooth! Oh my god I can see the age gap now. it’s incredible how from generation to generation some can understand things that are going on and others just bite the apple :) And the discussion is now about what bracelet to buy and how to get the bracelet one wants. Fashion is on this mailing list. I love it. No really, i find it super duper cute. Ok seriously boys and girls, enjoy your new toy when you get it and report back on whether I’ll be able to make a hotspot with the watch for my apple TV while I’m taking a dump in the plane on the way to south america. Hello. I was told, if I wanted the melanese bracelet, I was to purchase the Sports model first with the strap and then make a separate purchase for the bracelet. I did want to see the really expensive one, the one made of gold, but was told that none of the Apple stores would have those for demo purposes. One thing I do know though, RNIB here in the UK will make a big thing of this watch as I can imagine they are thinking at last, accessibility comes to the main stream watches. I wonder. Kawal. Hi, you are right, that was what i got told too. And you can add ons with different straps later. I too, like how it feel, and indeed, it is one of the lighter, if not similar weight as a normal ordinary watch. I'm still considering getting one, if my budget allow. From my understanding of what the watch specialist told me, yes, it is interchangable. As far as what to what, i'm not sure. But, you can also configure your apple sport watch to the apple watch strap itself. From my prospective, i don't see why not. The watch shape itself doesn't change. the 38MM and 42MM have the same shape, just make from different material. If you keep the 38mm size within the 38mm straps, and the 42mm within the 42mm straps, i don't see how it won't work. Re: I'm not disappointed but am looking forward.
Hello, I decided to Google Apple Watch bands to see what the cost would be to purchase the melanase band. My understanding from the site is that you can interchange the bands as long as you get a band that corresponds to the size of the watch itself. So, the 38 mm bands will fit the 38 mm watch and the 42 mm bands will fit the 42 mm. Oh by the way, the cost for the melanase 38 mm band is $149. So if you add up the sports watch (38 mm), the melanase band, and Apple Care the US $ cost is roughly $557. This figure does not include tax. I did ask about the cost of the stainless steel with the melanase band and that sits at $649 without the Apple Care or tax. I am concern about the Gorilla glass being used on the sport watch. Eileen, My understanding is that there is no Siri voide, but that voice over will read the Siri text. So you will hear Siri speak in whichever VO voice you have chosen, but not in the usual siri voice.
