To answer your question, yes there are 3rd party options but none have any
sizable following. The Libertarians of which I am a member are best described
as economically conservative and socially liberal meaning for example we want
small government but also support Gay Marriage or pro choice viewpoints. (just
an example) There is also the Green party this year which is a very left
leaning group heavily environmentally focused and I believe has historical
connections to the communist workers party. To give you an idea of the
percentage breakdown, about 45% of the population of the US will vote Democrat,
about 45% will vote Republican and the remainder will vote 5 - 8% Libertarian,
the remainder will be the Green party and the write in option. Voters have the
option to write the name of anyone they wish on the ballot as well instead of
picking one of the listed options. I know for example someone who is writing

Personally, I know the candidate I voted for won’t win, I hope Hillary does not
as I view her as more dangerous to the country over all being a complete gun

don’t feel either candidate is a great option and in order to sleep at night I
couldn’t in good conscience vote for either option, so I didn’t.

I get cited assistance from a poll worker. They take my ballot, read it to me,
and Mark my selections for me, and then insert the ballot into the reading
machine for me. I think of it as the same kind of relationship as that between
priest and penitent. They don't judge me for my choices and I have complete
faith that they are marking the selections I tell them. Sometimes just got to

 Are they really,
I thought one was democrat and the other republican?

Can you have 2 candidates from the same repugnant party in the one election?

You yanks are crazy weird people.

Hi Chuck,

Sorry, just saw this and have already voted. Honestly there's nothing that you
could show me about either of the candidates that would surprise me at this

2016-11-05 Thread Scott Granados
I agree I’m glad this came up. I’m happy to answer for anyone outside the
country the procedural stuff and how we do things and how our constitution
works. It’s an important topic, I’m glad the moderators allowed a little
leeway but I don’t want to offend folks not interested in the topic either.
I’m happy to answer questions off list though if any remain. Just like we had
I think an important conversation on Brexit our election, especially the non
partisan procedural stuff is important and effects the rest of the world in a
similar way. I’m glad the moderators allowed a bit of wiggle room in the rules
but I don’t want to abuse that generosity either.

The harsh reality is this. We can vote for neither major candidate,
or vote for a third party. It will not change the final outcome, one of
the two candidates will win.

Hi Donna, I went Gary Johnson but leaving it blank is another option. You
probably also have Jill Stein as your green party option. You might pick one
of them whom ever closest matches your beliefs. Or, you could write in, I hear
Kermit needs the votes.

I hear that Phil. That’s one reason we need a more consistent way of self

In my case Kawal I filed a mail in ballot. I sent a request to my local court

sited family member that I trust. I then insert the ballot in to provided
envelopes (an inner sealed envelope and outer shipping envelope) and place them
in the mail or drop it off in person at my registrar of voters office which is
in our local town hall. I’m not sure your equivalent in the UK here but in the
US each town has someone responsible called the Registrar of Voters. They
manage the election process for their own little area and are usually located
with the town government in what we call our town hall. Options for the blind
differ between states and even towns. Some have a template system, there are
some braille ballots out there I hear, electronic options with TTS and as Phil
mentioned appointed workers who are meant to assist. These appointed members
are equally distributed between the parties and polling places have members of
each major party present. We also have questions or things other than
political office that people vote on. In the state I’m registered in for
example there are questions ranging from different education options (whether
we want to fund charter schools) and we have a question on the legalization of
marijuana for sale and consumption. In the US right now several states are
moving against the federal government and ignoring parts of the drug laws
either providing Marijuana usage options for medical patients or out right
legalizing marijuana for general use much like liquor or tobacco. Five states
are voting for total legalization, 4 states are voting for Medical use and 23
states already allow medical usage and I believe 3 have total legalization.
Other issues that can be voted on include different taxes, selling bonds to
raise money for town or state projects, gay marriage was another issue states
voted on before our Supreme court ruled and many other issues. So, its not
just political positions we vote for.

Hope that clears up things. Just like we have many states we do things
differently all over depending on what part of the country you’re in.

Re: MODERATOR NOTE: RE: Wifi VS. Cellular?

2016-11-05 Thread Scott Granados
Well, you can’t say Hilary isn’t racist either. Being outside the country you
may not know but she calls young black men Super predators and her husband has
a long racist history. Also, Hilaries mentor was a guy named Robert Bird from
West Virginia. Robert Bird was a Klu Klux Klan member and openly used the N
Bomb on US television while Hilary was following in his foot steps. So let’s
not give her a pass either, she has a long checker history not only of criminal
behavior, pay to play business dealings but anti black pro KKK dealings. Both
candidates are flawed and in full disclosure, I voted for neither option.

I know for example someone who is writing
in Kermit The Frog.

Personally, I know the candidate I voted for won’t win, I hope Hillary does not
as I view her as more dangerous to the country over all being a complete gun
grabbing criminal. I do support Trump’s economic plan but like you Simon I
don’t feel either candidate is a great option and in order to sleep at night I
couldn’t in good conscience vote for either option, so I didn’t.

Those of you who vote, do you get templates on your ballot paper in a braille
format? Of course you can only have one of those if you go to a local polling
station. How do blind people vote in America if they have no useful vision?
May be you can reply to me off list so as not to jamb people's inboxes as it's

Hello All,

It's been a while since last I posted as a moderator. This is because as

conduct themselves in a gracious and kind manner.

Having said this, in light of the post, upon which I am commenting, I say
the following:

Scott, (and everyone, for that matter), name calling is unacceptable and
inexcusable in this community and it simply will not be tolerated.

In my world, this sentiment is clear but just in case you live in a
different world, this means that should anyone persists with this kind of

I will post this in a completely separate thread, also, just so everyone

To end on a positive note, I wish you all the best holiday season, ever.

Yep, Thanks Giving is a big one here when we celebrate the native Americans
helping us survive the winter and we thanked them by taking their land and
running them in to the pacific.;)

The funny thing it’s a big deal where I am, Plymouth Rock is not far from where
I’m sitting. The fake mayflower they have there isn’t bad either. I like the
revolutionary war stuff better but the pilgrims story isn’t bad. Could deal
with out the Puritans and witch burnings but hey, LSD will push people over the
edge which is what happened here. The fungus growing on the wheat produces
lysergic acid and well the good people of Salem were on a bad trip.;)

History is interesting.

make or receive calls unless you are in range of your WIFI network. Can’t see
what’s so hard to understand about that myself. Seems very basic to me.

Guys,

I don't know how to better explain this, and honestly, I'm getting a bit
agrevated trying to do so. Maybe one of you can chime in and help me out.

I have a friend who is on this list. I'm not going to reveal which member it
is, as I don't wish to put anyone here on the spot. I'm not even going to
reveal their gender.

Anyway, he/she has just recently obtained an iPhone. They are incredibly new to
the iPhone world. In fact, they are new to the smart phone world in general.

When they go into settings, Cellular, they see things using data like Apple
Music, YOutube, etc. I tried to explain to them that yes, those things are
turned on, as they are set to where cellular data is allowed to be used with
the apps.

I told them that if they either turn off any of those apps, or for that mind,
do what they wanna do by totally turning cellular off completely, that's not a
very wise idea in most cases. I tried explaining that when cellular is off,
then nothing will work if they're on the Verizon cellular 4G/LTE network. The
only time they'd have data internet connectivity would be if they were on a
wifi network. Obviously, they don't believe me, or don't understand, one of the
two.

I don't know how to explain this any easier. I told them that all they're doing
by disabling those apps under there like Apple Music, etc. is, they're not
disabling the apps from currently! using data. All they're doing is disabling
the apps so they never! will use cellular.

The example I gave them was, if they turn off Apple Music, then any time they
move out of range of their wifi, they won't be able to use Apple Music, as
they've disabled it from being able to be used with Cellular.

I told them, if they turn off cellular entirely, then they won't be able to
receive phone calls nor make calls, etc. unless they are on a wifi network, as
they do have wifi calling enabled.

Of corse, if they're on wifi, then their internet would also work regardless,
but as soon as they move away from the wifi range, their internet would go
kaput and so would their incoming and outgoing calls.

I tried explaining that by it saying those apps use cellular data, that doesn't
mean they're necessarily using their 6 gigs of data right then and there. The
only time that happens is if they're not on a wifi netwo

MODERATOR NOTE: RE: Wifi VS. Cellular?

2016-11-02 Thread M. Taylor
Hello All,

It's been a while since last I posted as a moderator. This is because as
responsible men and women, I trust that everyone in this community will conduct
themselves in a gracious and kind manner.

Having said this, in light of the post, upon which I am commenting, I say the
following:

Scott, (and everyone, for that matter), name calling is unacceptable and
inexcusable in this community and it simply will not be tolerated.

In my world, this sentiment is clear but just in case you live in a different
world, this means that should anyone persists with this kind of behavior, they
will be banned from the list.

I will post this in a completely separate thread, also, just so everyone will
see it.

To end on a positive note, I wish you all the best holiday season, ever.

Sincerely,

Mark

It’s to bad you’re both wrong and Chris asked the question because this is
right in my area but since he blocks me and since he’s such an ass to everybody
I guess the wrong information will have to be out there.

Anyone who wishes the correct answer including you Ray please contact me off
list. Aside from Chris of course.

it would not use their 6GB data plan.

Again, I'm not gonna reveal who it is, but they are on this list, and they
definitely do check their mail from this list on a regular basis, so if you

Perhaps one of you all who're a little more patient today can explain this.
