Re: Message Table?
Sometimes this is automatic, depending on the folder you’re in. But I believe in the view menu, there is a selector for which columns are to be added. This might depend on whether you were in class if you were standard view, which is called something else now. Reading Messages in Message Table?

Re: Moving to top of message table
Hi Thanks to you for trying to help us figure this out. When I follow the steps to set a short cut key to move to top of email list, it still takes me to the sort by date button. vo down arrow takes me to the top of the message list, even though I've set it to go to the visible end. Could my inbox be set to really small size? I've pressed the zoom button but don't actually know how big it is or should be. Is there a way to set mail to go back to defaults, preferably without losing my accounts and messages? Lisette On 21/06/2012, at 5:58 PM, Red.Falcon wrote: Hi there! Re: Moving to top of message table
Hello Lisette, I'm a bit confused as to how you're viewing your mail. I find Classic View to be simplest and I get rid of the preview pane. In this way, I have the list of my mailboxes on the left and a list of messages on the right. I press Return to open a message and VO reads it straight through. Command-w closes the message again. To set up Mail in this way, go to Mail Preferences (Command-Comma) and select Viewing in the toolbar. Then check the Use classic layout check box. Press Command-w to close the preferences. If your mailboxes are not visible, try pressing Command-Shift-m. Cheers, Anne -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Hi all, Is there a way of quickly getting to top of message table in mail? When I do vo, fn shift left arrow, I get to a button called select by date menu button. I'm still at the bottom of the message table. I can obviously arrow up but that takes a while with a large mailbox. Any suggestions? I'm on a macbook pro hence the need for the fn key. Re: Moving to top of message table
Hi there! That command works here OK! I'm using a Wireless Keyboard so need the FN key as well! So I hold the FN+VO with my left hand and do Shift+left/right arrows with my Right! Also I've got a Keyboard shortcut to do the same thing! So all I do is press right option+1 to go to top and 2 for the bottom! That command is set to keep me in the same column so if I start in Subject I stay in Subject! hth Colin PS. I'm still on Snowy Kitty! Re: Moving to top of message table
Can you explain how you set up Right Option 1 and 2 to tho to bottom of message table and top of message table? I went into VO Utility, Keyboard Commander, chose Right Option 1, but could not find the appropriate action to assign that keystroke. Thanks. Re: Moving to top of message table
I as well use control-option-shift home or shift-end. Since I'm on a macbook Air, I need the function key. After a while, I found all these buttons annoying, so i use the trackpad commanders and set up shift-flick-down to go to top and shift-flick-up to go to the bottom. So much easier. :) Traci Sent by Macbook Air Mail On Jun 20, 2012, at 2:38 PM, Lisette Wesseling wrote: Ok well that doesn't work for me. I wonder what I've got screwy in my mailbox. Re: Moving to top of message table
OK Yes there is the trackpad option as well! But if you want the Keyboard version here it is! I'll do it as if someone needs it from the beginning! 1, Open VoO utility with VO+f8 You should be on General scroll across to the [allow voiceover to be controlled by applescripts ] check box and checkit! 2, press command+8 and this will take you to the commanders, and go and select the Keyboard commander tab! 3, you can enable keyboard commander, then next you can choose which option key you wish to use! [it should be on the right one by default] 4, now you can go to the table of shortcuts [and there will be some already there] like option+T for the time and option+S for safari! Next to the table is the add button select it! 5, The 1st field is where you put the key you wish to use [have the key in mind]because it must be put in 1st! 6, Next is the menu of commands you want to use! So pick the Navigation sub menu and if you want to set the option to go to the top and stay in the same column pick the [go to most visible top or for the end most visible end! hth colin On 20 Jun 2012, at 22:58, Traci wrote: I as well use control-option-shift home or shift-end. Okay, I think I have go to visible end selected. But here is additional info. If I go to the bottom of the message list, then Option 1 does not work. If I go to the top of the message list, then Option 2 does not work. So I am stumped. I'll have someone eyeball this and see what they notice. voiceover interacting when collapsing threads in mail message table
Hello I search the list archive to see if I could find anything about this and didn't come up with anything, so forgive me if this has been asked before. It seems as though voiceover always wants to interact with the table when I collapse a thread. I don't like this much. Is there anything I can do about it? Re: voiceover interacting when collapsing threads in mail message table
Greetings Frank and others, I went into voiceOver utility - navigation and unchecked:automatically interact when using tab key. Now I can use the right and left arrowkeys to expand and contract threads respectivly, and since I retained my preview pane, the tab key usually causes VO to read the highlighted message. HTH. Re: voiceover interacting when collapsing threads in mail message table
Hi Geoff and all I do not have automatically interact when using tab key checked. I don't have the preview pain visible either. It's just when I collapse the thread that this happens. Hopefully someone will know what I need.
