Re: AutoFill Update

2018-05-27 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

It seems to work a little differently on iOS with a keyboard. When you
activate a editable field that could be auto-filled, press the down arrow once,
then touch your finger down near the bottom centre of the iPad screen. You
should hear the best guess for that specific auto-fill site. Either double-tap
on it or VO-space and it will fill in both the username and password for the
user that was suggested for that site. I haven't figured out yet how to jump
over to that area where the username is suggested, but if someone else knows,
maybe they'll chime in, or I'll play some more and read a bit more to see if I
can figure it out.

I'm fairly new at the iPad/external keyboard thing, but getting there. I've
been travelling some lately doing some presentations about VO on the iPad, so
have been trying to become more versed with the keyboard functionality.

Not that it matters that much since the password wouldn't be visible anyway. I

Hi ET,

Sort of. Yes, for the username, you could tab and shift-tab to determine if
the correct username was entered. For the password though, once you press
return, it starts the login process, so tab/shift-tab wouldn't be possible.
Not that it matters that much since the password wouldn't be visible anyway. I
believe that for the sighted user, it just shows the login name within the
pop-up, which they click on to proceed. That is the part that's not being read
by VO.

Re: AutoFill Update

2018-05-24 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi Jeff,

I believe that this is intentional. I thought that I heard that there was a
vulnerability exposed that allowed some sort of scripting to gain access to the
entering of this information without user intervention. I don't believe that
they necessarily gained access to the Keychain contents, but could tell Safari
to auto-login to some sites which would not be desirable from a security
prospective. There should be a little lock thingy that sighted people can use
to have Safari enter the credentials from your keychains. It's an extra step
for the sighted user, but is more secure and addressed that vulnerability.

Hope this makes sense.

• If you have credentials saved in iCloud Keychain, when you get to the

• the most likely username for that site should be entered for you.
• tab to the Password field, hit the down arrow once and press return again.
• Your login should proceed.

the accessibility problem here is that when the down arrow is pressed
for both the username and password fields, there is a menu of choices
available.  VoiceOver is not privy to these at the moment so they are
not read out loud.  It's entirely possible that I'm just missing the
correct set of actions to make these choices heard, but I haven't
figured it out yet.  In either case, Safari and the Mac are pretty good
at figuring out which username is associated with which site, so when
you just choose the first item in each case, it usually works to log you in.
