Confirmed. iOS 13.1.2 has a larger (or at least easier to locate) Status Bar.

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-30 Thread Phil Halton
Dave, I’m using an iPhone ten r, and I use a single finger drag down from the
top to open the control center. I was only suggesting if you couldn’t find the
status bar on the home screen, then you can always get it in the control
center, but evidently you’re working with an iPhone 8 and you still use the
three finger swipe up to open the center.

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-30 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi Dave,
Yes, I was getting the same frustrations with the status bar as you, but I’ve
since added vertical navigation to my rotor thanks to Maria, and the problem
is solved. I usually don’t like to add things to the rotor without more of an
explanation as to what it does, but figured I’d have a look to see what it did.
Once you’ve added vertical navigation to the rotor you just do the rotor
gesture until you find it and then flick up with one finger and you will find
the status bar. With my 8+ it takes me straight to the status bar with one
flick, not sure if there are more options on the Face ID phones?
But I suspect apple put this option in the rotor because they figured some
people might have trouble finding the status bar, and I’m guessing the status
bar has become thinner because they are needing to put more things on the home
screen.
But I’m not going to complain about the smaller status bar now like I was going
to, as the rotor works perfectly.

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-30 Thread Phil Halton
Dave, if you want to find the status bar, you can go into control center and
then start flicking left from the airplane mode feature which I believe is
where you land when you come into control center. Just to the left of airplane
mode will be found the status bar including cellular Wi-Fi time etc.

2019-09-29 Thread Dave Carlson
Yep. Definitely a lot harder to find, now. iPhone 8 with iOS 13.1.
Installing 13.1.1 as I write. Getting to that status bar is a real pain, and I
use it a lot to determine Wi-Fi strength, battery charge level, and time of
day. Hope they fix that soon. Off to write to accessibil...@apple.com

RE: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Petrus,

Yeah vertical nav is one of the rota functions,
You mightr have to enable it under the settings accessibility / voiceover rota
There is only some of the rota functions enabled by default.

So please tell me more about this vertical navigation option in the rotor? How
does it work and is it mainly for the phones without the home button or can we
use it on the 8 as well?

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Ah but my usual way of getting to the control panel was to do a three finger
swipe up from the bottom of the screen when I was focused on the status bar.
But I can find the status bar now by putting my finger on the top corner of
the screen and sliding down slowly. Even though I still have an 8 plus without
the full screen.

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread Phil Halton
As I stated in an earlier post, one very good workaround is to go into control
center and swipe left past airplane mode. That kicks right into the status bar.
No fumbling around for it on the home screens, although I still find I can get
to it pretty easy from within most apps.

I don't seem to be able to get out the status bar reliably anymore on iOS 13.
Is there something wrong here?

You need to swipe down very very slowly from the upper right or left corner to
get to it. You’ll hear a lot of clicking going on while you do this but it is
possible. This one threw me at first too.
