Re: Whart will people use Siri for on the Mac?

2016-09-26 Thread Saqib Hussain
Hi. I use suggested words which appear above the keyboard on my phone. My
typing speed has increased some what. Dictation is rubbish and I don’t use it
because it always makes a hash of your dictation most often than not. I have
tried dictation on Android and it is so much better on that platform. I’m not
saying its perfect but it gets most things right. I haven’t updated my Mac OS
yet as I’m told that the mail client has issues and I only use e-mail on my
Mac.

I have to agree about the operating system on the whole. I didn’t do much
testing with it I will admit, but from what I’ve seen from the Golden Master
and now the public release is outstanding.

great for quickly playing music, especially for Apple Music

Re: Whart will people use Siri for on the Mac?

2016-09-24 Thread Jenine Stanley
Mine is quite slow on my mid 2012 MBP but I do use it for opening apps. I also
appreciate quickly getting my system stats with it. Not sure whatelse I’ll use
it for but possibly opening web pages will be something worthwhile.

Re: Whart will people use Siri for on the Mac?

2016-09-24 Thread Alex Hall
I find it helpful for quickly sending tweets or messages, opening apps, getting
the definitions or spellings of words, and looking for files/pictures. For
instance, I needed to find a particular picture I'd taken the previous day, so
simply told Siri to "show pictures I took yesterday". Yes, it's easier to do
things on a Mac than an iPhone with a keyboard, but it's often easier with
Siri, even on the Mac. I might not have Messages open, or I might be in the
middle of something and want to dash off a reply as soon as I can. Or I might
be writing something, and just need to check a definition before typing a word;
Siri is far faster than typing the word, looking it up, and finding the web
content holding the definitions. The latter is more thorough, but all I need is
a quick check. Finally, Siri is great for quickly playing music, especially for
Apple Music subscribers. Even if you don't use that service, Siri can play any
song, artist, or playlist in your library, just like on iOS. Don't want to deal
with iTunes? Just tell Siri to play a song, or that you love or don't like the
current song, or any similar commands.
