I've also discovered that my 2010 Mac Mini, which I bought to learn VO
last December, only has 2GB of RAM. Do I have to upgrade to 4GB of
RAM to run Lion? And, do I have to find my iWork disc to reinstall
after Lion? What about migrating mail, docs, etc?

I do have a few questions:
1. I've lost my Snowleopard disks. Is that a problem regarding Lion?
2. Where do I get Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloaner?
3. I also can't find my iWork discs. Is that a possible problem.
I'd rather not make a dual boot situation.

Not trying to screw round with anyones hopes here, but I heighly doubt
it will be out today. I'm thinking next Thursday (14th July)
I could be wrong though, at which point you can all point, laugh and
all that. If you have one on hand, I would personally burn it to a
blank external HD, and do it that way. Reading and writing marginally
faster. However, you could also burn it to a DVD in case you should
lose your HD or otherwise. Voiceover should function as previously in
earlier installs, I see no current reason why it shouldn't. Make sure
that you have your favourite beverage on hand, and go! :)

Re: [Bulk] Re: Will It Be Easy To Install Lion?

2011-07-07 Thread Courtney Curran
Hi,
I'm just curious, when Lion comes out, what's the best way of burning the pkg
file to a DVD. Also, what's the best way of erasing my whole hard drive?
Thanks,
Courtney

From what I've read, you only need to have Snow Leopard in order to
download Lion from the Mac App Store. It doesn't actually need Snow
Leopard to run the installer and you can apparently boot it from either a
DVD or a USB drive.

I've tried to find official confirmation of this though and haven't been
able to. Still, I guess we'll know soon when some people get it from the
App Store and tell us what it says.

Geoff.

Contained within the app, there will be a disk image file, with a dmg extension
that will be used for recovery. Use carbon copy cloner or super duper to clone
that image to a flash drive, or use disk utility to burn the image to a

Hello Mike! You will not be able to install a new copy of lion. It is only

Re: Will It Be Easy To Install Lion?

2011-07-06 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I see no reason why it wouldn't be. I hear! ok, now, please, don't anyone
hold me to this, but I? hear! at least? hint hint, that it's supposed to be
released today at noon eastern time.

Again, I dono if any of you can confirm this, but that's what I'm getting
from a few very reliable sources.

Chris.
