Re: Sonos and Apple Music

2021-10-10 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

In this case that Donna outlined, the HomePods, or HomePod Minis, are what
Apple calls a “Home Hub”. The Home Hub is needed to coordinate your Apple Home
experience. The Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K can also work as your Home Hub, so
when adding the Sonos speakers to your Apple Home, HomePods are not the only
option. An iPad can also be used as a Home Hub, but the iPad that is being
used as the home Hub needs to be left at home if you wish it to control devices
in your home when you are away.

Just to clarify what I wrote, it’s not imperative that you group the Sonos
speakers with a HomePod or a HomePod mini, but you do have to add them to
HomeKit. Once they’re added to HomeKit you can use Siri to control them.

Hi,

If you have HomePods or HomePod minis in your home, you can group your Sonos
speakers with them, and then use Siri to talk to the HomePod devices, which
will in turn play the music on your Sonos speakers. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Donna

You're not doing anything wrong! The issue is Google try to steal things
from Sonos as far as how they do Mesh networking and trade secrets. And
retaliation from Sono suing them they have pretty much neuter the Google
assistant on Sonos devices. It's often happens though in third-party
devices with voice assistance it's not an equal playing Ground. The only
way to get apple music to work with voice on Sonos currently is with Alexa.
