I would say that it took almost 20 times as long to boot up after I uninstalled Sound Flower even after repairing and verifying disk permissions, etc. I was resigning myself to the fact that I would have to perform a clean install of OSX when I decided to perform a quick Google search regarding this problem. Low-and-behold, I found the solution, said solution being the following: It appears that in order to retain the normal system startup time, after uninstalling Sound Flower, one must reset the system PRAM. Re: A Question About Sound Flower
In the sound flower package that you have downloaded, there is an uninstall script that is needed to uninstall sound flower. Hit that, enter in your password, and the un installer should ask you to reboot your system. Once that’s done, sound flower should be uninstalled and you will no longer have to worry about it. Using audio highjack pro, ladiocast, sound flower, and vmware
Hi all, The subject says it all. I was wondering if anyone knew how to use audio highjack pro in conjunction with soundflower, vmware and ladiocast broadcasting software. I am wanting to go back into streaming again, and I can't find any good programs that I can use to stream with. I use a program on windows called Zarra radio that I use just fine, and want to see if I can use it with this setup. If anyone has any ideas on how to use this, either email me bavck or skype me at blindman3221 and let me know. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I don't get the idea behind soundflover too. About djay so are there some issues I have. There are a lot of checkboxes that don't have labels, the help tag still work so I can figer them out. There is also a table wich I think includes categories of for example artists but there is only "unknown" items in that table. If I select a song and in the context menu select "load on table 1" I can't get it to play from table 1. Maybe that's not v o issues but the man behind the keyboard thats the problem :). I'm going to try it more later. So maybe it works better with the controler you are about to try. Good luck with your new gadgets. Hi good people. I will receive my Vestax Spin tomorrow, then there will be a lot of playing going on, i'm sure. In other words, i don't know the first thing about Sound flower but would really like to know as much as possible, so please if you have an answer step up and shed some light for a confused soul.:-) Thanks a lot. /Krister -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Sound flower issue solved
It turns out that I muted the output of Sound Flower 2ch. As a consequence of which, it was not outputing audio it was receiving. At first, I thought maybe my Grifin Imic was not working correctly, so, I fiddled with the inputs and outputs. That was the point at which I messed up the Sound flower routing. I don't think you'll believe what the actual problem with my Imic turned out to be. I had the plugs backwards. IN short, I had the Microphone where the earphone plug was and visa versa. I guess today just was not my day. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! Now a very proud and happy Mac user!!! sound flower routing issues
Okay, I really don't get this at all. This morning, I was able to use Sound flower to capture my Grifin Imic sound and rout it to Skype just fine. the Imic was set as the input for Audio Hijack Pro and the output of that same Imic session was set to Sound Flower 2ch. Now, after having done disk repair on both my main drive and backup drive, I cannot get Sound Flower 2ch to route audio at all. On the Audio Hijack Pro session for the Imic, the Imic is set as the input and the Sound Flower 2ch is set as the Output. ON Skype, Sound Flower 2ch is set as the input. So, logic and previous behavior would seem to suggest that with The Grifin Imic set to input to Sound Flower 2ch on the session set for it and Sound flower 2ch set as the output on that same session, and, with the session checked to highjack audio, One would think that it would work; but, it will not. My Imic is functioning correctly. Sound Flower 2ch is set for maximum input level. Also, the same thing happens when I set Cog player to play through Sound Flower 2ch. when Nicecast is going, I should be able to hear the sound coming over Sound Flower, but, I hear nothing. It's as if either Sound Flower is muted, (I don't see a mute button for it anywhere.), or, it's not picking up the sound. Can anybody think what might be causing this? Thanks. Re: Sound Flower?
Hi GF, Allison, and Yuma, I'll paste in some more description from an old post of mine to the Mac-Access list written two years ago on the subject of audio routing software. Subject: Audio Routing Software: Soundflower and Jack [was Re: Getting iTunes to use specific audio device.] Date: June 14, 2008 Yes, it is possible to configure iTunes to play to a different sound output device (such as an alternative sound card). What you need is a software tool like Soundflower or JackPilot, that allows you to reroute your audio connections for the purposes of either monitoring or or redirecting output from one audio application to to another. This kind of capability has been widely used by podcasters who need to separate different audio inputs and outputs. Here's an excerpt from an old descriptor release of Soundflower: Cycling '74 originally developed Soundflower as a way to allow applications developed with its Max/MSP audio environment to process audio originating from other programs. However, it can be used for more general audio routing tasks patching either 2- or 16-channel data at 32-bit sample depth between any applications that support standard Core Audio driver selection. Soundflower can be selected as a "default device" in the Audio/MIDI Setup utility for programs (such as iTunes) that do not allow the selection of a specific output device. As a result, Soundflower has found widespread use in the advanced podcasting community. Rogue Amoeba (maker of Audio Hijack Pro and Airfoil) distributes Soundflower with its products, but you can separately get the latest version (1.3.1) of Soundflower from HTH. Re: Sound Flower?
I believe sf is so that one does not need to relaunch applications for AHP to highjack the audio I could be wrong though< On Jul 1, 2010, at 2:18 PM, clarence griffin wrote: > What is sound flower for? Re: Sound Flower?
Hi GF, I think Soundflower routes the audio input from your mic in to system sounds. I also think it is responsible for Hijacking audio with Safari. Hi GF, Sound flower routes your audio from device to software or software to software for specific recording needs. Re: sound flower with airfoil
Thanks, Darcy, I do have a windows pc, so will try the airfoil speakers application for windows. I'm hoping for an ipod in the not too distant future, but big guide dog vet bills kind of got in the way. Re: sound flower with airfoil
Hi Mary. You probably won't ever need to use sound flower in conjunction with air foil. Sound flower allows airfoil to grab all of the currently playing audio, and send it to the airport express. This would include your radio stream, but it would also include VoiceOver. This makes the mac more difficult to use, since audio is on about a two second delay. You should set airfoil to pull audio from safari. I've personally never seen this not work. Yesterday for example, I was using airfoil to stream an archived show from bbc radio 1, and it worked fine. By the way, do you have an iPhone or iPod touch? If so, you could get the free airfoil speakers touch app. This would allow airfoil to send audio to the iPhone as if it's an airport express. Alternatively, if you have another computer on the same network as your mac, you could get airfoil speakers. This does the same thing, and I believe there are versions for windows, mac, and linux. This would allow you to try out airfoil prior to getting your express. sound flower with airfoil
Hello all, I have installed the trial of airfoil as well as the two extra apps, one of which is sound flower. The little text blurb with it says it will play all of the audio sources you have running. Its an embedded application. So does that mean that all I need to do is get my airport express connected to the network and the stereo, start safari, go to the page that has my desired web-based source on it, start the music playing and then open airfoil and sound flower automatically does its thing? I looked through the manual and didn't see anything about the extra apps. I don't see anything related to them in menus or preferences. I did set airfoil up to use safari as an audio source also, but am not sure that's correct, since I imagine that some applet is playing the mp3 streams other than safari itself, although none shows in any other window. I don't yet have the airport express. I'd just like to know if my theory is on the right track or if I have to do something else entirely. I'm sure playing through itunes or one of the other listed sources in the sources tab will be a no brainer. But since a lot of what I want is on this Russian music website, and the streams don't play consistently through radioshift, I'm going to need to play them via safari. Thanks for any help in advance.
