Re: Strange behaviour when loging-in in OS Sierra

2016-10-29 Thread Brian Hansen
I completely wiped the drive and started from scratch. At this point, the only
thing that isn’t straight from the factory, is my mail settings, and that I’m
signed in to iTunes.

I just reported the problem, and I was able to include a screen shot, so

Re: Strange behaviour when loging-in in OS Sierra

2016-10-28 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
I have had this happen. It does not happen every time. I do not have my
computer lock upon sleeping, so it has only been 1 or two times when
restarting. Unfortunately because it has not been often I can’t point to a
particular condition that existed at the time. I would think though that a
restart would clear any such condition. I also only restart maybe once a week
so it will be hard to detect a pattern. All that to say, no, you are not
alone, but I don’t have much to add to the search for a solution.

Re: Strange behaviour when loging-in in OS Sierra

2016-10-27 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Interesting, Tim. I'm puzzled why it should happen as I'm logging in having
previously shut down my mac. It would not have been asleep. The same thing
happens on my late 2010 MacbookAir. I'm quite spooked by this, and I wonder
whether I should perform clean installation of Sierra. That's a lot of work for
possibly no gain. It's curious that the vo+shift+spacebar click should remedy
things. I asked a sighted person to watch the screen. I was told, that when I
start my computer, the log in screen appears but the fields where I would
normally put in my name or password are not highlighted. Something prevents
this from happening.

Re: Strange behaviour when loging-in in OS Sierra

2016-10-27 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I have, probably, six users on my MBP and I'm not experiencing this. I have
had it happen to me on occasion on numerous iMacs at work in Yosemite, El
Capitan and Sierra. What I've found in those cases, is that the iMac screen
has gone to sleep, not the iMac itself, just the display as I've set all our
machines to never go to sleep. So, like you, I just click the mouse or
trackpad and I'm good to go. It seems that when the display goes to sleep, VO
gains focus on whatever app is handling the sleepy-time and thus is not focused
on the authentication screen. Clicking on the mouse remedies that for me.

Strange behaviour when loging-in in OS Sierra

2016-10-27 Thread Andrew Lamanche
I've reported this repeatedly to Apple during the testing period.

I have installed latest OS Sierra on my May 2014 Macbook Pro. Whenever I shut
down my computer and then boot it again, I can't immediately start the log-in
process because something prevents VO focusing on the right fields where I can
put in my credentials. Vo keys do not respond. I've asked a sighted person to
tell me whether there's a window covering the log in screen but they have told
me that there isn't. In order to be able to log in, I have to perform the
simulated mouse key with vo+shift+spacebar. Only then will I hear Voiceover
say "Users". This is obviously an irregular behaviour, and I was wondering
whether anybody else on the list have experienced this?

Thanks

Andrew
