i solve this problem on mac mac before, you should quit your drop box.
i would assume that your drop box start at the log on.
you must delete that on system preferences  users and groups  login items 
then intereacts on applications. then check drop drop box then stop 
intereacting on it then delete log in item.

I was able to successfully delete it by putting it back into the applications 
folder and deleting from there.
You must tell it to keep both apps and then delete the copy.

Trying to delete a copy of an app

Hi all,
I somehow have two copies of the dropbox app and want to get rid of the one on 
my desktop.
Each time I try moving it to the trash it says that plug ins are being used.
If I try removing it from applications it says it’s open.
How can I get rid of one of these copies?
