Re: can't play youtube videos in safari

2014-01-21 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

When installing the stand-alone Flash Player, use the tab key and spacebar, no
VO keys. Tab to move and spacebar to activate buttons.

HTH.

Best.

Chrome includes flash, so if possible, you can play yOutube videos in that
browser.
Sorry I can't be more help with installing Flash player.

Re: can't play youtube videos in safari

2014-01-20 Thread Ronald van Rhijn
Hi,

Adobe Flash is as of Mavericks built in OSX. You have to enable Flash by going
to the Safari settings with cmd+, when Safari is active and select the Advanced
button. Then you see an option concerning internet plugins. By default these
are disabled to save power usage. I believe when deselecting this option the
Flash player should work properly.

hth,
Ronald

Re: Youtube videos in Safari

2013-10-04 Thread Terje Strømberg
Good question, i don`t think so. It happened to me last time i was on You Tube.
I was thinking that it was something wrong with the movie since voice over
worked. After trying movie number two with no sound i found that the volume was
muted accidentally. I am visionally impaired and was able to see the adjustable
volume/mute switch after a while.

Take care

All of a sudden they don't play.

I've emptied the cash, went to flash under advanced in system preferences
and deleted that stuff. I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player.
I've repaired permissions, reset Safari, and I think that's all.

I have a new MBA with ML. The videos played up until today and now they
 don't. Somebody please help!!

Re: Question about playing Youtube videos with safari.

2013-03-18 Thread Chris Blouch
I wonder if it doesn't depend on whether the video is being played by
Flash or HTML5. Flash is not accessible while HTML5 is. I have opted in
for HTML5 video when possible by going here:

http://www.youtube.com/html5

but there are still some videos that play with the Flash interface
because of some weird codec they use or advertising requirements.

Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know that was possible in older versions of Safari but not in the
current version.

I don't understand the key combination nomenclature used but here is the
 trick given below the link:

 http://mac.appstorm.net/how-to/os-x/30-super-secret-os-x-features-and-shortcuts/

   Downloading from YouTube

This one is a gem. Ever wanted to download a YouTube video to watch
later? No need to purchase third party applications or plugins, this
feature comes built right into Safari. Start the video in Safari and
hit 88+Opt-a to bring up the activity window. Then simply find the
largest file (usually multiple MB) and double click it. It's as easy as
   that!

This trick usually results in an .flv video file. If you want an .mp4,
try appending your YouTube url with fmt=18 or fmt=22 to get an HD
   mp4.
