saving emails to the documents folder as rtf and the control key not stoping voiceover from talking

2014-05-12 Thread isaac
Hi I was trying to help some one save a email as an rtf and save it to there
documents. One problem that we are running in to is when after we get in to the
save as dialog and choose documents and choose save it tells use that it can't
be saved to this path. Why is this happening? Now here is the second problem
every time she pressing her control key some times voiceover won't stop
talking. We tried having her turn off hints but even that didn't help. How so
we fix this issue?saac

Re: saving emails to the documents folder as rtf and the control key not stoping voiceover from talking

2014-05-12 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

For your first question, try renaming the file instead of letting the Mail app
do it for you. If, for some reason, the filename is too long, it won't allow
it to be saved. For your second question, it's likely a buffer issue,
sometimes it will stop right away, sometimes it won't stop speaking until it's
good and ready to stop speaking. Just press Control or double-press Control
and try it a number of times, it will usually work sooner or later.

Re: saving emails to the documents folder as rtf and the control key not stoping voiceover from talking

2014-05-12 Thread Phil Halton
Also, as to the problem of the control key, remember that it is a pause/resume
switch, and that pressing it once is supposed to pause speech, and pressing it
again will resume speech. So, pressing it indiscriminately will result in the
situation you report. That is, if you press it a bunch of times, you may be
telling it to resume speech, depending on the number of the last key press. .
The other poster was right, it is not as responsive as it should always be, and
so sometimes we press it a bunch of times in frustration. Hope this makes
sense, I'm on my first cup of coffee.

Re: saving emails to the documents folder as rtf and the control key not stoping voiceover from talking

2014-05-12 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Besides the toggle feature of pausing/restarting VO speech, the double-press of
the ctrl key usually stops the speech. At least, way back when VO was first
implemented, that was the expected behaviour, this may have changed, I'm not
sure either way though.
