You should disable kernel vdso.

Thanks for the tip. Seems to be working fine. Side questions:

- shall I anticipate any side effect on the kernel?
- shall I issue this command each time I work with scratchbox or does it
only affect the configure script?

This executable seems to be statically linked so I suspect that I have

I dont know RPMs, but binary tarballs works great.

[maemo-developers] Problem setting up scratchbox on Fedora Core 5

2006-06-02 Thread Laurent Julliard
I just tried to install the scratchbox rpms on my Fedora Core 5 machine
and got the following error message when the script
/scratchbox/run_me_first.sh is executed at the end of the
scratchbox-core rpm installation.

Lookig closer in the faulty script I can see that this is the
sbox_configure binary that is causing the problem:

/scratchbox/sbin/sbox_configure no sbox
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: rtld.c: 1192: dl_main: Assertion `(void

I guess there are some tricks to configure the dsp and fb, programming

Could you, nokia guys, provide more information to the community on how

for example, how to produce these lines:

Is there any news on this?
As Carlos disclosed indirectly in another mail to the list (about the
application competition at GUADEC) the new LT2006 edition will see the
light of day somewhere before or at least at GUADEC, which is a little
less than a month away.

If we want to provide our users with updated packages at product launch
it is just about time to have the corresponding development package at hand.

Again, I still think that it would be of great benefit for the
developers, the users and Nokia to release the SDK before the product
(developers get early experience, users will get packages at product
launch and Nokia gets early feedback from experienced developers).

Hi Zoran,
Be aware that there is also a MIT licensed upnp library here:
http://www.virtualworlds.de/upnp/

If you plan your application to be open source you should definetly use
this one as I think the ProtoSys one is binary only (please correct me
if I am wrong).

Basically the status means as follows:
 * Unmergeable: These changes are necessary, due to current designs
and uses, in maemo-gtk but will not be accepted upstream.
 * Change maemo-gtk/glib: Similar functionality is available in
upstream but using slightly different API/implementation.
maemo-gtk should use the upstream version instead.
 * Move to hildon-libs: The changes can (and should) be implemented
in a separate library rather than by patching gtk+
 * Done: Patch committed to upstream.
 * In progress: Patch has been submitted to GNOME bugzilla but it
is pending upstream review.
 * Outstanding: Changes have been identified in this file but no
patch has been extracted and submitted to upstream yet.

Hope this helps.

First try some diagnostics
- does the upnp device monitor plugin works for you ?
- are you implementing a GTK based Control point ? if yes, then you
hopefully are using the glib version of mpuf libraries.
- then I would want to sniff the local TCP/UDP traffic when I initiate
the search

[maemo-developers] GUADEC Maemo hack contest

2006-06-02 Thread Carlos Guerreiro
Hi Maemo hackers,

For the occasion of GUADEC 2006 (http://guadec.org/) in Vilanova i la
Geltrú, Nokia Multimedia will award the best Maemo hacks by participants
to the event. GUADEC happens between the 23rd and the 30th of June, you
can still register here: http://guadec.org/GUADEC2006/registration.

However, entries to the contest do not have to be developed there, it is
enough that a member of the team is present at GUADEC to represent the
entry and take the prize. The prizes are Nokia hardware, including Nokia
770 Internet Tablets.

We'll announce the winners and hand out their prizes during GUADEC
itself.

The deadline for submissions is the 25th of June at midnight, Vilanova
time. There's still time to work on that hack or even get started on a
new one.

For more details and information about how to apply checkout the contest
rules: http://maemo.org/maemowiki/GuadecMaemoContestRules

Happy hacking,

Well this clearly means you did something wrong on the pc (as you stated that
you can surf to the router, SSH and ping). Have you any firewall running? Is
apache running? Can you connect to it using the localhost interface?

So it comes down to checking your PC setup, as you seem to have done something
wrong there. This seems to be in no way related to the 770.

[maemo-developers] Help: one RTSP connection issue.

2006-06-02 Thread yang ning

Hi.

I am blocked afront one N770 RTSP connection issue.

The physical connection diagram is like follows:

---
a Linux PC server with PCI WLAN CARD (TL-WN650G)
---

---
Wireless Router (TL-WR641G)
---

---
|N770
| )))

---

The problem is that N770 cannot open rtsp connection to PC, where a RTSP
server is running. Actually it cannot either open an http connection to PC,
where an apache server is running too. I think maybe they are of the same
problem.

However, what's functioning well:
1. Wireless Router has a Web configuration page, N770 can open it.
2. Wireless Router is a DHCP server, which assigned PC an IP address
192.168.1.100.

3. The Router itself has IP address 192.168.1.1.
4. I configured N770 IP address using command : ifconfig wlan0:1
192.168.1.120.
5. PC can ping 192.168.1.120 and N770 can ping 192.168.1.100 (this should
mean IP layer works).
6. N770 can SSH to PC server (this should mean some port is OK like SSH's
23).

Any clue or do u need more information?
