Re: Transfering contacts to N900
Hi Keywan, Did you try to export as a CSV and Import from file on your N900? I have a related question, I can't figure out how to get the phone to sync contacts from a SyncML service. Anyone know what I need to do? Cheers, Dave. Hi, Dave Neary wrote: I have a related question, I can't figure out how to get the phone to sync contacts from a SyncML service. Anyone know what I need to do? Answering my own question, I found this page on Google: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/topic.py?topic=14298 The S60 instructions appear to be compatible with my Nokia N900, which doesn't appear to have a SyncML option that I can find, but unfortunately, the process doesn't conclude successfully. In the Mail for Exchange set-up wizard, I set the following values: Email address: m...@gmail.com User name: m...@gmail.com Password: MyGr8P4sswd (Oops! accidental cleartext) Domain: Blank Next I get asked to open a wlan connection, which I do, and in the next page I put in: Server: m.google.com Port: 443 Secure connection: Yes. But in this screen, when I hit next, the connection just times out, and I get an error message. Any hints tips from people for whom this works? Cheers, Dave. I have rather more contacts on the phone than average, I suspect - around 3500. Hi guys and girls, how can we keep the battery in good shape? any specific recharge pattern tips? also, is it possible to have the alarm feature work even when the battery is empty/device has passed out? i know my older cellphones did this and i really liked it. but i learned the hard way the n900 doesn't do this unless i'm missing something. so to avoid nasty suprises i plug the power in every evening ... Unfortunately, the way you describe Mer is the way Diablo works for me (or does not work I should say). The latest problem is the bug described here ( http://n2.nabble.com/Modest-complaining-about-wrong-user-name-password-td3768229.html#a3768229) and makes Modest unusable. I've been using Claws, but I like to navigate with my fingers which is very difficult in its UI. Since Diablo I find it virtually impossible to visit any Web2.0 intense sites (maybe it's just JS). I used to be able to go to GoogleDocs before Diablo (slow but possible). Since Diablo it's simply not possible. Maybe I have a hardware or memory problem? Another annoying thing is that I have to reset the language setting for my BT keyboard every time I connect it. I admit to not having been very good at adressing (some of) these issues here on the list, so if anyone has any suggestions for work-arounds I'd be happy. But my basic needs (email, web browser and simple text editor with BT keyboard) are no longer satisfied by my N810 with Diablo. Would it help to flash it and reinstall the system? I could use more built-in memory for apps, but that's another matter. I saw early on that Diablo had too many issues to risk the upgrade. When 32GB SDHC Class 6 cards come down to where I can afford one, I'll probably try running Chinook, Diablo, Mer and EasyDebian all off one card (if that's possible) so I can compare them side-by-side.
