Re: [maemo-users] 770 on the way

2006-12-07 Thread David King
If the 870 had a pull-out keyboard, that would be compelling enough
for me. Otherwise, I'd probably skip a generation or two.

Indeed! I have an n770 and would definitely buy an 870 if it had a
keyboard with a CTRL and ESC button (that is, a keyboard on which I
could code, run vim, etc)

Re: [maemo-users] Cingular DUN with MediaNet?

2006-10-12 Thread David King
Does anyone have Cingular DUN working with a MediaNet connection?
Is there a limitation with tethering? How would they even know...

I have it working with an LG CU320 and a Sony Ericson T616

Access Point Name: ISP.CINGULAR
Dial-up Number: *99***1#
Username: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Password: CINGULAR1

In Advanced, I have Allow Plain Text Login and Use PPP
Compression both ticked.

For me it was a breeze to set up... I'm using OS 2006

Re: [maemo-users] VidConvert: online 770 video conversion

2006-09-19 Thread David King
That's a wonderful service, very convenient when I'm away from my
computer but not my n770. Thanks!

Hi,

After some discussion on Internet Tablet Talk's forums, I've created
VidConvert, a simple service which users 770-encode[1] to encode
videos to a Nokia 770-compatible DivX:

   http://www.bleb.org/services/vidconvert/

You can enter a URL to a media file (or a YouTube page), or upload a
file. Most major file formats should be supported, but there will be
limitations.

The result can be downloaded or - by choosing Open from Opera -
streamed to your 770. Results are deleted after 24 hours, and only one
video will be converted at a time (so please have patience if you are
in a queue).

At the moment it's still very basic, so please let me know if you have
any problems.

Cheers,

Andrew

Yes, I still have to find some way to conquer this limitation! :)

[maemo-users] PIM suites

2006-09-05 Thread David King
I am now the proud owner of a Nokia 770, and I would like to know if
there are any PIM suites with synchronisation frameworks that anyone
is working on, even if they are in the beginning stages. I see that
GPE has multisync, but it appears to only sync with GPE.

I'd like to some day be able to sync using iSync, although I realise
that's a long ways off, maybe I can take an existing synchronisation
framework and whip something up.

Failing that, are there any other PIM suites other than GPE? It's not
that I hate GPE, I'd just like to see my options. Does anyone know
anything about the one that Open Hand was supposed to be releasing?
