The Nokia Mobile Charger DC-4 is compatible.

Beste Jack

I have found on the website

http://www.europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,75023,00.html

It is called the DC-4

Iam going to check if i convince one of the better Phone shops to make it a
stock item : will let you know the results.

Hi Jack/Frank,

I think these tend to be overpriced. If you get a Bluetooth GPS unit
like the Oasis Media one (72 EUR) from:

http://www.gpsshop.nl/product/19348

You get a car charger and USB charger cord which fits the standard
(larger) nokia adapter plug. If you have the CA-44 charger adapter (I
made myself a custom one), then you can charge in your car, from your
computer/laptop etc...

Groetjes,

Michiel

Alternatively, are there any third-party solutions?

The DC-4 as i mentioned is in stock at Phone House f.i.
You have to ask for the DC-4 and ignore the question for which phone :-)
No second source yet, price is hefty at 19,95 Euro.

Maybe the tip of Michiel is not so bad.
Thanks Michiel

I'd love to take the 770 with me on vacation this summer, but a
charger that fits the lighter-socket in the car is a must (not
knowing when we'll be near a 220v outlet).

I don't know what the European car power socket situation is (I'm in the
U.S.), but I found one online at a cell-phone accessories retailer that
was advertised as compatible with the 770--I'm sure it's compatible with
other Nokia products too. I ended up getting it for about $5, which was
basically the cost of shipping via the U.S. Postal Service--the actual
charger was only a penny. I did a search on one of those
comparison-shopping sites. I still have the packaging around here
somewhere if you want me to dig up a model/part number.

By the way, if anyone's interested, here's the URL:

http://shop.vendio.com/Aladdin110/item/855934698/?s=1145959202

It's the first result under Product Search Results in a Google Search
for Nokia 770 Car Charger
