[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1521008] Re: Allow the "date" of a journal entry to be editable by the user
That sounds like a good idea to me! Making it so that the user can change the date displayed but that the 'real' dates can still be accessed if required for assessment purposes. It balances creativity and academic usage. I can foresee some lovely potential utilizations of this, with students setting the display date to be way in the past and pretend to blog as historical figures, but the tutor being able to go in and see the 'real dates' to check they did actually do the work when they were supposed to. I've seen this request come up before for Mahara, and it's worth considering because most dedicated blogging platforms have this feature. Specifically the idea is that, when you're editing or writing your blog entry, along with the description and body there is an editable field for its date. The date you enter here is then used for sorting the blog posts chronologically, and it's also displayed to the users when they view the blog posts. One use-case for this is offline experiences entered retroactively. For instance, you go on a month-long hiking trip. You write down a daily journal. When you get back, you enter that written journal into your Mahara journal, and you want the dates on the journal entries to match up. (This can be accomplished via the MaharaDroid application, but not everyone is able to use that.) Sorry for the long silence, things here went a bit hectic. I think the page link picker suggestion (Bug 1520028) is a good alternative or additional option. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1437291] Re: export groups
Sorry it has taken me a while to respond. We would definitely want to keep everything in the group as often submission are group work. I think the journal issue is an interesting one, as it would be necessary for prosperity of the entire group but as far as assessment goes it would be whatever was on the pages that would be counted. Perhaps if we could look at exporting the group pages first, so that they aren't lost once students move on from a project but are needed to comply with assessment regulations or to be displayed (with the students consent) as examples of great work. Then we could look at journals and forums later? I have the following notes from my colleague Mira: 'Hi Domi, Aaron's 1-4 - yes broadly correct, although re (2) there is always a slim chance that students use a page other than their group's About page to link things together (not sure if this matters technically). Aaron asks what method are we using to lock the group at the deadline. Since all students have Admin role, currently we upload a spreadsheet which converts the students' role from Admin to Member. In the group settings we ensure the Member role can't edit. Sadly, without a way to export/copy the space, the space becomes the sole assessment record and so they can never edit again (hence our request). Yes, HTML export would be sufficient for our purposes I think, since as you say it allows a fixed version for records while allowing students to treat the Mahara version as a work in progress and continue to edit it. But LEAP2A seems a good idea, since it is in line with what you can do with an individual portfolio. Regarding who should be able to export a group space, I agree with Domi's suggestion that the Group Admin role should be able to export, but Group Member role shouldn't. This seems the best avenue for managing intellectual property and privacy issues. Aaron asks should forums be included in the export. I think this should be an include/exclude setting since I think there is a case to treat the forum as separate. I would second this. I think with the select a thumbnail on other files/ image this can also be confusing if you don't know. In an ideal world users will do all of their editing on dedicated software before loading a finished image, but in reality it's not always an option, and if mobile submission has been setup to allow users to send content from their mobile devices straight to Mahara it becomes even more useful to have these features. When loading an image from a computer the orientation data associated with the image doesn't always match what the user sees on their own computer (especially Apple devices). Two basic editing tools would greatly enhance Mahara functionality - a rotate image tool (by 90 degrees per click), and a crop tool to trim displayed images. There are other features that could be added - but I believe those are the two that would have the biggest impact. Rather than suggesting something is created from scratch - there are existing open source or free web applications (eg below) that might provide a starting point for a tool that could be incorporated. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1500818] [NEW] Quick publish journal to page
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: This is an enhancement request/ suggestion / idea not a bug. I think that Mahara would be more user friendly if some of the steps to complete certain actions were reduced. An idea I have had to this end is to create a button/ feature to quick publish from the journal section directly to a page. I imagine it as a button in the journal section that says something like 'Publish to page'. Once clicked this button would ask you whether you wanted to create a new page or publish to existing. after making this choice the journal would either be added to a default position on the page (say the top left corner) or it would create a new 1 column/ 1 row page with just the journal on it. ** Affects: mahara Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1500814] [NEW] Add a 'Quick add' block to the Mahara dashboard
Public bug reported: This is an enhancement request/ suggestion / idea not a bug. I think that Mahara would be more user friendly if some of the steps to complete certain actions were reduced. One idea around this I have had is to add a 'Add content' or 'Quick add' block to the Mahara Dashboard. This could include think like a button to: - Add a file (possibly with the ability to choose a folder to add to) - Add a journal entry (with the ability to choose which journal if you have multiple enabled) - Create a new page. I have done a really rough mock-up of what this might look like in Paint and attached it to this ticket. ** Affects: mahara Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "mahara_quickadd.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500814/+attachment/4478552/+files/mahara_quickadd.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. [Mahara-contributors] [Bug 732971] Re: Backup groups and group data
Has any progress been made on this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Mahara Contributors, which is subscribed to Mahara. Matching subscriptions: Subscription for all Mahara Contributors -- please ask on #mahara-dev or mahara.org forum before editing or unsubscribing it! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/732971 Title: Backup groups and group data Status in Mahara: Triaged Bug description: Discussion at http://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=2987 Currently, only individual portfolios can be backed up as HTML web site and as Leap2A file. However, views, files and discussions in groups can't be backed up. Views and files can be transferred into one's individual portfolio and backed up from there, but if you have many group views / files that can be quite cumbersome. It would be easier if groups could be backed up. Backup options could be: - entire group as HTML web site - (series of) individual pages as HTML and Leap2A so that they can be imported into one's own portfolio later - only forum discussions as HTML web site To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/732971/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~mahara-contributors Post to : mahara-contributors@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~mahara-contributors More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1432693] [NEW] Add the ability to delete mulitple pages at once
