Re: [Mailman-Users] mailman python process out of control 2.1.2
Hi, Thanks for the reply, the mail queue is empty, is there any way to check what mailman is actually doing in this instance, I have tried starting qrunner in verbose mode with the -v switch, there was no extra output using verbose with qrunner. Any ideas what could be causing this, and or how to better diagnose the problem. Cheers, -bash Mark Dadgar wrote: Benjamin Ash at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: It looks like a mailman 2.1.2 process has been running for days, using 99% of the cpu. Any ideas what could be causing this, I am running python 2.2.3, note it was doing the same thing under python 2.1.x When I experienced this, it was because htdig barfed doing it's nightly thing and cron tried to send 20MB of error messages to the mailman mailing list. Re: [Mailman-Users] footers
Quoting Jon Carnes [EMAIL PROTECTED]: The mail from this list is all text based. The next release of Mailman will make some further advances in helping to get the footer to show up in HTML or MIME encoded mail. Do you have any additional information on this? Is there anything in CVS at this point? Or do you know of any hacks/patches that would address this in the short-term? If you don't want to restrict folks to text only email, then you can also simply send out a monthly note that emphasizes the info that would have appeared in the footer. Long shot: Is there a way to restrict them to text-only email but still allow binary attachments such as word docs, etc? Thanks! Re: [Mailman-Users] footers
CodyG wrote: You're right! It is something in the mail client that isn't showing the footers! Cause for sure they are there in the message source. (I should have checked.) So, what is the use of footers if someone using OE defaults doesn't see them? But how could it be a mailer issue, when the footers are showing up just fine on my mail from Mailman-Users? The main problem is that the character set of the header and footer might not match the character set of the body. In this case, Mailman 2.1 will use MIME parts (flagged as 'inline' to tell the mail reader to display them along with the body) to indicate the correct character set of the header/footer; you CANNOT otherwise mix different character sets in a single mail body. I'm guessing these messages have a Content-Type header like test/plain; charset=utf-8 or something else that does not match the list's configured language. There's really no good way that we've figured out to force Outlook Express to stop being buggy and display inline MIME parts as, well, inline. If you can figure out a workaround (try constructing messages yourself by hand and emailing them to Outlook Express) please let us know! [Mailman-Users] Moving ~mailman to a new machine
I currently have mailman installed on my home machine and use fetchmail to grab list posts, process them on my machine, and then post them. I am going to be replacing my mailserver with a freeBSD machine and want to move mailman to that machine. I want the move to be transparent to the users with the exception that the webface address will change to match the listname domain. what prep steps do I need to take once I get mailman installed on the BSD machine before I move all the lists over? Can I move all the lists intact including users and archives, or do I need to recrate the lists? what's the best way? I'm thinking that simply tarring up the ~mailman and depositing it on the new machine is NOT the best idea. -- Don't be nice. It's Creepy. [Mailman-Users] 2.1.2: scrubbed attachment wierdness
Hi all. I'm working out the kinks on an upgrade from 2.0.13 to 2.1.2. I noticed that in the archives of one of the lists I'm running, a message from an mindspring user is blank, with this text: Skipped content of type multipart/alternative-- next part --- The thing I don't understand is that in the admin section for this list, under content filtering, the filter_content option is set to no. multipart/alternative IS present in pass_mime_types, but my understanding is that if filter_content is no, this should all be bypassed. I'm not sure what this means. Anybody have any suggestions? Could it just be pipermail that can't handle multipart/alternative? It came through in the actual delivered message fine, it just got stripped from the archive. -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/ This message was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe or change your options at http://mail.python.org/mailman/options/mailman-users/archive%40jab.org
