Iʻve activated the secret setting for having the notification be
"delete" instead of "reply", which is great. Is it possible _not_ to
activate MM upon the click?

I've looked into this and the answer is no, it doesn't seem to be
possible. The hack I looked into for doing both Delete and Reply
buttons involved making “dismiss” (Close) into Delete. I think
that would not activate MailMate which might be why it works in Apple
Mail. But as previously noted I think it became too much of a hack
(with potentially unpredictable behavior with OS upgrades).

Frankly, it's a lot less useful if it activates MM, since I then have to
re-dismiss it. Not having to go to the app is a big part of the point of
having the notification action, no?

[MlMt] Cursor placement in replies

2017-05-09 Thread John D. Muccigrosso

I'm seeing a weird new thing:

Replying to messages with some selected text, the cursor ends up at the
start of the first line of the signature for one of my signatures, not
above it as it used to and still does for my other signatures.

The signature is not tied to an account and it has multiple lines, but
if I shorten it to one line, I still get the behavior.

Plain text composition.

Re: [MlMt] message keep reappearing in junk

I have checked my Junk mailbox in more detail and found a few more
such messages. These were individual messages not a thread. I went
then to my other computer and moved them there out of Junk and they

of Junk on my main computer is not good enough. This seems to be an
issue with only a few messages, though.

I'm thinking that the problem is somehow related to having MailMate
running on two machines. Here's something to consider:

Every time one instance of MailMate moves a message to the INBOX then
the other instance of MailMate is going to see it as a new message. This
is simply how IMAP works. If you are running SpamSieve on multiple
machines then this could be a problem. To avoid this problem then
MailMate, by default, does not apply SpamSieve to any message with the
“Not Junk” (`$NotJunk`) keyword -- *and* this keyword is applied to
anything moved out of junk.

This should make it work except for the special case where the IMAP
server does not allow/support setting the `$NotJunk` keyword. This
should be rare, but I think this might include Exchange IMAP (which has
little support for custom IMAP keywords). Is it an Exchange IMAP server?

I don't use the IMAP server as an archive for this 3 reasons:

1. I don't have so much space on my email-account.

That might be worth looking into :) (Note that there is nothing
preventing you from a using another IMAP account for long term storage.)

2. Archiving email-messages outside the email-client I can rely on
Finder- / Spotlight- / HoudahSpot-search to find anything (including
email-messages). I'm not saying that MailMate is bad on searching -
I'm using it every day for the email-messages I still haven't archived
yet.

If Spotlight indexing and a custom location is enabled in the General
preferences pane then this should work for MailMate emails as well.

3. Even after switching to MailMate I still like to believe that every
email-client works faster and need less RAM when having less emails to
deal with. I'm sure you've done and continuously do a lot of work to
make MailMate fast and less RAM-hungry, but still. :-)

I'm not going to argue with this point :)
