Re: [MlMt] Multile message deleting, how to do this with justte keyboad?

2018-12-02 Thread pleasespamme
I do the same thing as I have my RSS feed sent to my email. (I prefer
MailMate to RSS clients.) Only issue when I select emails with the shift
key is that, when the mailboxes refresh/sync, MailMate forgets it’s
selection location. I.e., starts de-selecting items from the beginning
of the selection vs. continuing to select items from the top of the list
when I arrow up.

In that case, you need the first part of my previous reply about using
the shift key (or the command key) to change the selection of
messages.

But maybe I or someone else has a better reply if you describe your

Maybe some type of autogenerated emails which could perhaps be
filtered into a separate mailbox?

With `export` (and `import`) Bill means arguments to the `defaults`
command. Curiously, these are not documented in the man page of
`defaults`, but they are listed if you, e.g., run the `defaults` command
without any arguments:

defaults

To be more specific, something like this should work:

defaults export com.freron.MailMate ~/Desktop/MyMailMatePrefs.plist

And then on the new machine:

defaults import com.freron.MailMate ~/Desktop/MyMailMatePrefs.plist

(I haven't actually tried the above.)

As noted before, I think simply copying the file should work if you
haven't yet launched MailMate on the new machine.

@Benny so when I am installing MM on the new computer - do I create a
Mailmate folder in application support and put the `plist` files in

Yes.

Before installing MM? or is there a window between install and launch?

Do it before launching MailMate. If you fail to do that then you can
just delete the contents of the folder first.

It's a standard list view and therefore the normal keys should work,
that is, shift to select a range and the command key to
select/unselect individual emails. I'm actually not sure if this works
differently in VoiceOver, but I would assume that it, at least, works
similar to how it would work in the Finder.

If you need to delete everything in a mailbox then the context
sensitive mailbox menu has en “Empty” menu item. There's a hidden
preference to enable this for any mailbox. I would not use that if not
really needed. “Select All” (in the View menu) and delete should
be good enough in most cases and less likely to happen by accident.

Just take all of the `.plist` files. Then you don't need to configure
the accounts and all emails are fetched from the servers building a
new database in MailMate.

You won't get the `defaults` (which also means Preferences) changes.
That can be done by copying the following file:

~/Library/Preferences/com.freron.MailMate.plist

But I believe this has to be done before launching MailMate for the
first time (because the system caches it in memory).

An alternative approach is to use the 'export' and 'import'
subcommands to 'defaults' command, which assures that you get
precisely what the system believes to be the current defaults.

Yes, see “View ▸ Message Body Parts”. The keys are the same as in
Apple Mail: ⌥⌘[ and ⌥⌘]

2. Is there a way to stop HTML emails from rendering attached/inline
JPEG's etc?

(Spam showing nagging stuff, even when it's marked as spam.)

No, there's no way to prevent embedded images from being shown (since
they are already fetched). I guess it could be a general option to
display images at all, but then you would probably also want a feature
to disable it (like the answer to question 1)...

3. Maybe an option for "Don't load attachments" for specific folders
would be interesting? :-)

Ah, then I think I understand question 2 since this would implicitly
allow you to do that. This feature is on my todo, but don't expect it
soon. It would probably not be so hard to not fetch (or at least not
store) large attachments, but it's tricky to make this work well when
using features which expects the entire message to exist, for example,
if using drag'n'drop to move a message between accounts or to the
desktop. (I haven't really looked into it.)

I'll note the request for such a feature to also work at the mailbox
level.
