Right. They have disabled IMAP access intentionally. This IT organization no longer wants to support IMAP. They prefer to rely on the security that Google provides directly; some feel this is a more secure way to go. IMAP can be enabled and disabled in the dashboard that is used to control Google apps. If this isn't your own domain there isn't much you can do. - Henry Mensch On October 28, 2022 16:31:40 Richard Teverson wrote: > Hello all, > I’m a devoted if new Mailmate user. Re: [MlMt] R5923 memory leaks on M1 iMac/Ventura
Joseph, I looking further at the memory leak issue, certain emails, particularly yours, open up processes called shown in Activity Monitor>Memory, a process named, “About:’ in the MailMate Group, while I was composing this message, boosting APP MEMORY to 16GB (several apps in addition are included in this total). These don’t close when the email are closed. Counted 14-18 items in addition to the application itself each one consuming 9.0 -76MB of RAM in several threads. Could this be a source of trouble? Re: [MlMt] gmail workspaces beginner question
Richard, Since you are on an institutional server service, I’d suspect your IT folks know of what they speak. You probably are wise to pay attention to them on this and try to subvert their intentions. The (advice not to hack your school service account) said, in my case I’m on no such an infrastructure. Even so, I had problems with layout settings for Google Mail using M-M, trvrntly and had to redo my IMAP settings. Gmail with OAUTH2 has been fine since then, for me. Google has changed things but M-M kept up just fine. YMMV (with a separate system in between, it clearly does). Respectfully, Henry Seiden - - Techworks Pro Co. Re: [MlMt] Colors in mailbox menu
Simon, Not sure if you meant how to get to the item within the mailboxes browse bar or how to customize those icon(s). The first is available in the bar by holding down the CONTROL KEY (^) button+icon. You can expose the selection submenu, [see link](https://www.dropbox.com/s/klubhb7ms43sk4x/Screenshot%202022-10-28%20at%2010.55.06.png?dl=0) and details apps you can use to select or edit a symbol. Color selections work similarly in M-M with their submenu commands, [see link](https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7pyse938do8dzs/Screenshot%202022-10-28%20at%2010.54.40.png?dl=0). The release notes for 5924 further add: New: Added tip to use the SF Symbols app to browse available symbols Well, my Mac had never heard of the SF Symbols app. It turns out this is a specialized app from Apple that is aimed at Mac developers, so it’s not part of the standard utilities in the OS. It can be downloaded here: https://developer.apple.com/sf-symbols/. Note that, using the Chrome browser, my download got stuck at the end. After waiting a bit, the file stabilized at 243.9 MB. I then manually renamed “Unconfirmed 336157.crdownload” to “SF-Symbols-4.dmg”, and this allowed me to open the .dmg file and run the package. The Safari browser was able to complete the download without any intervention. I must also comment that the search feature in SF Symbols, which Apple has the audacity to brag about in their online video, is not very powerful. In truth, it is dirt simple. Searches for “cash” and “money” turned up zilch, because there are no icons with those words in their name. Naturally, browsing the Commerce category I found icons like banknote, dollarsign, centsign, yensign, eurosign, etc. Compare that to the superb search feature provided by [Font Awesome](https://fontawesome.com/search?m=free=r), which is another icon font system (offering both free and paid access). They put a lot of work into it, and it is indexed by many useful keywords. It will also do “fuzzy” searches, recognizing mis-spellings and related categories. The point is that a massive icon library without a good search system is basically crippled from the start. Glenn P. Ok, as I thought. The person sending me the email accidentally encrypted it. However, I still see an indirect pressure into the market, when more and more companies start using this OL feature and think, it's the standard. The only company I'm aware about that consequently uses PGP or S/MIME encrypted email, is Mercedes Benz. You can submit your PGP key, and from then on, all emails are encrypted back and forth. Tariq, They’re no n00bs. Likewise no stupid questions. “Check for Test Builds” can be shown/selected by holding down the ⌥ key when clicking on Mailmate in the menu bar. Selecting that exposed item leads to the download of newest build, in this case today to 5924. It has been mentioned here often and in the Help section, though not prominently featured. I see the latest version. Once installed you will also see a history of updated covering all test versions listing features in each Test Build. Respectfully, Henry Seiden - - Techworks Pro Co.
