While I understand your frustration, I wonder what "advanced feature"
you are looking for. In the end you can override each and every single
Postfix element or how they interact. It's that flexibility that gives
me most of my headaches.

[mailop] Haraka status? Exim the only choice? (v Postfix)

2021-04-30 Thread MRob via mailop

Hi --
I used Postfix along time but my experience is that it is incredible
difficult to implement custom logic especially across the different
binaries/processes it uses to fulfil a mail delivery transaction. Its
designed in the "unix philosophy" and has good performance - great but
Postfix devs normally react hostile if asked for advanced features that
require tracking meta-information about messages across Postfix
processes. Its only the RFC compliant mail message state that persisting
through the entire transaction, nothing more. Milters can be injected
but have limitations and I get headaches from the configuration system.
I shouldn't complain too hard tho, because I'm grateful for how solid
and secure and bulletproof it has been. Thank you team Postfix.

But I want more power and customization not only generic mailserver.

I heard of Haraka a time ago and I see it is still maintained, but there
seems no public archive of mailing list (website for years now has said
"We are working on providing list archives") and when I last tried to
subscribe, list was broken!!! I asked on irc and they said approx "oh
it's broken? meh, thats not so important, cuz Haraka just works, if it
doesn't just ask on irc. we update Haraka once in a while when we find
something wrong". Obviously this was a red flag.

Anyone using Haraka? Anyone trust Haraka?

That mean Exim is the only real choice? It was a good laughing from this
recent mailop post about Exim vulnerability and I see Exim gets regular
vulnerabilities.

https://www.mail-archive.com/mailop@mailop.org/msg12993.html

But it look like Exim have infinite customization possibility which
should help me. I guessing that one must accept more vulnerabilities for
having more power flexibility that Exim gives.

Can I ask what are mailop's opinions about Exim? Thanks you!

Bug or Feature, hard to say.
There's nowhere near enough detail here to even begin to make a guess.

Seriously, your first step should be top open a ticket:

I did reply and waiting to hear back. Was just curious if any receivers had
some thoughts. Its a very small domain and kinda got the 'don't bother to write
back' tone.
Thanks for replying.

Have you tried asking *them* about their thought process? They are probably
better prepared to explain them than some random people on the internet...
But I would not rule out the possibility that they can't explain what's been
going on in their heads.

Cheers,

I got an email from a small receiver that they are blocking one of our /24s

Any idea the thought process here?

Did they sign up to website to transact and receive transactional
messages, or to marketing email?

Are you sending only transactional messages or also marketing email?

Have they ever requested you stop sending marketing email?

Chris, sounds like you have clear consent and need to complain to the
small receiver with the evidence.  There is no judge or jury that can
help if they are an island of their own.  You could always try reaching
out to an them especially by phone or LinkedIn too.  It shows you are
real and not a spammer IMO.

Good luck.

[mailop] EarthLink Contacts

2021-04-30 Thread Tautvidas Sipavicius via mailop
Hello folks,

Is there anyone we could contact at EarthLink?

Our mail stream from multiple IPs and customer domains to EarthLink is
being rejected with a "smtp;554 Transaction failed: i/o error" response.
VadeSecure suggest it's on EarthLink's side, and we couldn't get the issue
resolved via the "blockedbyearthl...@abuse.earthlink.net" route.

Thanks!

Re: [mailop] Microsoft Consumer Email Deliverability Issue

2021-04-30 Thread Robert Schoneman via mailop
"No links" means "no user clickable links". The image is a small logo.

Message is HTML only. We don't have the ability to edit the message template
beyond a few things like our organization's name, etc.

Just some questions...

That "One image stored on the same domain the message is sent from"
must be a link, right? So the "No links" seems to be a conflict, right?
Really meant no links other than this one image link? Might be better without
any links. Is the image necessary?

I assume this is HTML mail. Is it HTML only? Or is it multipart alternative
with an appropriate plain text part? I suggest the latter but the plain text
portion must be an appropriate alternative.

But as for staring into the abyss that is Microsoft consumer email I try not to
stare into that abyss too long as then the abyss stares back. I have had
trouble dealing with them before and they are not friendly about it. Good luck!
