[MapHist] New MapHist Forum comment question

This is a MapHist list message.

Peter,

The new MapHist Forum ( http://www.maphist.nl/forum ) is very well designed,
and I believe it will be highly successful. The option to receive notifications
of new posts via email is not only great, but absolutely essential. I would
assume those who were in favor of the forum design over the listserv are not
using the email notifications since one of their stated goals was to de-clutter
their inboxes. However, the forum (as opposed to the listserv) is still a time
sink for some of us. Is it possible for the email notifications to include the
actual new post and a link to it, rather than just a link? It would save a lot
of time for those of us who don't mind the emails and, from my perspective,
would make the new forum irresistible, combining the best of the old and new.

Regards,
Jay L.

It's an e-book alright... as in an exclusory book.

It's not really cool if all you have is a Mac that isn't tainted with
Windows. Or you have a Mac and an old PC and don't intend to replace
the latter when it crashes for the last time.

I think the idea is fantastic. Someone just needs to invent a simple
way to make it functional independent of OS.

I hope this is just the first of many really cool similar projects.
This is a great introduction to ebooks – or what do you call this
format?

Best wishes and best of luck,

[MapHist] MapHist vs iPhone

2010-09-17 Thread Jay L

whole list)
o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o + o +

iPhone using and/or tech savvy MapHisters -

I didn't get a response from the Google help forums, so I thought I'd
try the collective minds of MapHisters.
When out of town, I check my google email acc't on my iPhone. MapHist
messages are always missing everything below the o+o+o+o+... line.
There is no indication that the message is abbreviated, or that any
part of it is hidden. It just isn't there.

When I get a chance to check the email on a computer, the entire
message is there, as expected. MapHist messages are the only email
messages for me which have this problem.

Does anyone know why the body of the MapHist message below o+o+o+...
is missing when I use my iPhone to check my gmail? More importantly,
how does one fix it?

Thanks,
Jay L

And now we return to our regularly scheduled cartographic program.

Someone please let me know how I, as a North Carolina resident, can
vote for Mayor Boris Johnson!

Of course the Thames should be on the Tube Map! I would be completely
discombobulated without that vital point of reference (as opposed to
my usual state of subtotal discombobulation). Even though the Tube Map
is not spatially accurate, the Thames still provides an invaluable
point of reference for those of us who don't live and work there, but
who love to visit.

The London Daily Telegraph ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk ) is reporting
today that Mayor Boris Johnson has ordered London Transport to re-
instate the River Thames on the Tube Map.
