Title: MapXtreme - huge datasets

Hi

We use MapXTreme with some datasets (geosets) of
200-300 Mbs..

That work like MapInfo, only the objects and data
of the sub-area displayed are loaded in memory..

There are some exceptions like rasters and
grids..

You can found examples of datasets on MapXtreme on
our sites:

  datasets

  Hi All,
  I am using MapXtreme (Java
edition) to display some southern Sydney (Australian) street data.
We are hoping to use street
data from the whole of Australia in the application, but I have a concern
about how MapXtreme will handle it due to the huge amount of data, even though
we will only want to load data in small areas.
  Does anyone have any
experience with using MapXtreme with very large datasets?
  How does MapXtreme work in
relation to displaying data. Does it cache all data from open tables (layers)
in memory and work from this cached data, or does it search through the
datafiles and only load the data required to display the current
  area?
  My main concern will be
speed of display. If we have a very large street level dataset covering the
whole of Australia and display a suburb in Sydney at a scale of about 1:2500,
will it be quick? What hardware specs would I need to get quick displays in
  the mentioned example?
  Thanks!!!  :)

MI Label question

2000-08-23 Thread Antoine Gilbert, KOREM

Hi

I have a simple question concerning labels in a
workspace.

The workspace contain 2 layer; a polygons layer and
on top a points layer. Each layer display labels. The problem is that some
labels of the polygons layer seems to have priority on the labels of the points
layer. I want that MapInfo try to display all the possible labels(without
overlapping) of the points layer before to try to display the labels of the
polygons points.

bad english...

Re: MI Servlet queries

2000-08-09 Thread Antoine Gilbert, KOREM

All of your errors are concerning compilation... compiler don't find some
ressources.. In all of your question...

The compiler don't find some classes, include the total classpath in your
javac argument despite puting them in the classpath environment. I don't
know if your are on Win NT and if you set that on the system environment...
The problem is not concerning MapXtreme or wathever.. You are simply not
able to import some extern ressources.

Try to include the package mxtj20.jar in your classpath or in the javac

Re: MI Putting maps on the net

2000-07-14 Thread Antoine Gilbert, KOREM

Hi

MapInfo have a product named MapXtreme. This is a mapping application
development tool. You can use it for develop or deploy internet mapping
solutions.

Does your Oracle data are tabular or geometric ?

What kind of interactivity do you want to have on the client side ? Static
or dynamic visualisation (zoom, querying, ...) ?

Do you want to transfer vector information on client side or just images as
results ?

There are a lot of important questions you have to go throught before
beginning the development of an application of this kind.

We have developped an application using MapXtreme, with this we can publish
MapInfo workspaces on the internet (a map server). The client(user) can
navigate in the specified workspace (zoom, pan, info feature, geosearch,
...). For a demo, go to http://www.pushnsee.com and try it !

For i=1 to Nbcolumn
testname=ColumnInfo(TTT,"COL"+i,COL_INFO_NAME)

2000-03-23 Thread Antoine Gilbert

In MapJ 1.0 only tiff seem to work. For us, in version 2.0 all rasters seems
to work but are unstable. For now, we don't use anymore MapJ for draw
rasters, we draw the raster in a bufferedimage and insert this raster layer
on the workspace in the rendering process of MapJ..

Re: MI MapXtreme Java - Thematic Mapping

2000-03-14 Thread Antoine Gilbert

We have experienced this problems... And didn't find a solution. For this
reason, we construct an individual value thematic by ourself. We scan the
attributes and construct an IDSelectionTheme by assigning an override
feature for each feature, and finally save this theme.. But for version 2 im
not sure, that was not possible in version 1 but with the version 2 we
didn't see exactly if it's now possible...

use the RUN COMMAND instruction..

exemple:

Run Command tmp

in a mapbasic you can't insert objects elements in the same time of data
element..

insert your data elements first and after use update statement for insert
your object element

ou bien, si tu veux être sûr du résultat, prend l'option RUN COMMAND pis
construit en string en une ligne l'instruction au complet.. genre :

Run Command "Add Column "++Table_Buffers++" ("+ ColName +
"""(Somme)"""+" Float) From "+Table_Data+" Set To sum("++ColName++")
Where within Dynamic"

ainsi té sur de ton coup, mais je sais pas si tu es un adepte de Run

au pire fais un affichage a l ecran de la string résultatnte pour visualiser

Title: Need help with a MapBasic program

Salut

  Hi everyone!I'm working
presently on a project which involves collecting data points (in latitude and
longitude) with a GPS unit. I would need to be able to display all these
points one by one, in sequence, so that we will be able to observe the path
taken with the GPS unit. I know it is possible to do it in MapBasic, but I'm
not familiar with this program. Can anyone help me out?

Re: MI MapBasic

1999-07-01 Thread Antoine Gilbert

Hi

the problem ist that you try to insert 3 objects in a row, through the
colomn its the object column "Insert Into gsIntTable (Obj) Values (oObj,
rArea, rPerim)"

you have to insert first data, and after use "update" to modify the object
of each record

adieu...
