MI Translucent Layers

2000-08-16 Thread LEPAGE, MIKE (MIKE)

List,

Is there any way to do translucent layers? I was told that Mapinfo 6.0 has
the feature but I can't find it anywhere in the program.
Only thing I can do is modify a rastor image to make a color transparant.
But say I have a color I want translucent... or I have a poloygon region,
red for example, that I want translucent.

Can it be done?

RE: How to use .tar data with MI

2000-08-14 Thread LEPAGE, MIKE (MIKE)

tar is not a data format. it is a unix compression format like .zip .arj
.ace etc.

you can use winzip to extract the data file from the .tar file. Then it
depends on what format the dem is in for how you get it into mapinfo.

RE: MI high res image generator

2000-08-08 Thread LEPAGE, MIKE (MIKE)

I do the same thing actually. Put images into powerpoint for distribution.
I am using the Worldreg utility which is for registering images, but it also
has a save window as tab function. You can choose the output format (jpg,
bmp, tif, etc.) and you can specify a number from 1-25 which will increase
the image resolution. Using this I can make an aerial photo for example fit
on an 8.5/11 sheet of paper that will still print to 34/44 inches and still
look good. when you insert the picture in powerpoint you just have to
shrink the image to fit the letter size paper. Of course the greater the
resolution then the greater the file size.

Only downside is that I think you only get the export option in worldreg if
you buy it. I know they made changes to the free version though, so you
could check it out and see if it does it. I paid less than $100 for my copy
and it was worth it. http://members.aol.com/mapdata/

Also note that I found out before that file sizes for doing this in
powerpoint 95 are about double than for the same file saved as a powerpoint
97 file.

Hi there,

Im looking for an application or mbx that produces
high quality image snap shot of a map window.

The resulting image will be used for powerpoint
presentation and high resolution publication.

I know you can use export and print to ps file facilities
in MapInfo but the resultant image is not good enough, it's pixely.

Many thanks

When i open up a .SID file MapInfo acts as though the file is not

MI making a unique id column

2000-05-11 Thread LEPAGE, MIKE (MIKE)

Can anyone tell me how I can add a column to my data and have it contain a

I have about 30,000+ polygons in a table, but for joining and merging I need

it as that will lose the map data portion of the data. The unique id I want

RE: MI Digital export of layout

2000-03-27 Thread LEPAGE, MIKE (MIKE)

I have a utility I use called World Reg. which registers the images. I
find though that it has a option to save the window as a tab file which you
can choose a jpg, tif, or bmp file. Best of all you can adjust the output
resolution with the limit being the disk space that the file takes up. I
use this all the time to make tif images and put them in other documents for
things such as aerial photography. I have not found another viable option.
(saving to pdf files goes into the hundreds and hundreds of megabytes even
at the lowest resolution option for my data.)

there is a free version of it, but you only get the export option when you
register it. I think I paid $69 for mine.

Here is the link to their site.

image resolution is the screen resolution (not good!) and I can't find a

Finally found DOQs for my neck of the woods in my somewhat spatially

Why couldn't Idaho be like some others and use geotiff?? My tax dollars

How can I display/georeference .sid files in MI? Still in 4.5. Is that

I suppose there is a magic translator out there. I couldn't find one
