Good morning Mike,
you should put a "Join us" or "Get involved" sticker on every copy or
something like that, so they are marked from TDF.
And put a "Mach mit" and a "TDF-das Zuhause von LibreOffice"-Flyer in it.

The background is for me somehow a kind of ironic: An oldish background
while talking about the newer LO platforms.

Perhaps you can provide a link and a QR-Code on the poster where the
user finds a description of changing the UI (notebook bar, Persona) or

instrument for that work, I hope you will give my project asylum.

[1] http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/msg06763.html

hum... Several things here, let me take them on in a more logical order:

1) What is VI-Marketing? :-) We're happy to offer asylum if it is
marketing related of course.

Designing marketing material, conference stuff, covers for
documentation, banners, logos etc.

2) I read in the link several points that must be commented or amended.
Yes there is a strongly voiced opinion by the infra team that the
RedMine wiki is not to be used at all; forums are a bit different, they
do raise some real questions in the case of an existing mailing list
(more on that below). However RedMine and its issues/tickets is not to
be closed at all.

No, of course not, only the Design part. Otherwise I wouldn't ask about
an asylum.

I don't know where that is even written, but this is

gross misunderstanding and perfectly inaccurate. RedMine is intensively
used for task and issue management NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO CODE. In
other words, when these are not software bugs or l10n patches, they all
go to RedMine. It is not my decision or opinion, it is the infra team
itself. I thought it was useful to restate all these details to clear
any misunderstanding. Unless of course you received an email from the
board I never received ;-)

3) Feedback on the marketing experiment with RedMine. A lot of people
are uncomfortable with using RedMine as a replacement for the mailing
list, but task management is felt to be more effective through RedMine.
The wiki is not to be migrated at all anyway. This leaves us not so much
with a status quo but an increased use of RedMine for tasks. The public
marketing list will remain open and active. Let me stress however that
the mailing list discussion must always be directly based on an ongoing
task. Any general talks or rant about the state of the IT and why
LibreOffice has not yet adopted a Ribbon interface should take place on
1) the discuss list 2) social networks like G+ 3) /dev/null

I hope it answered some of your questions,

Yes, so let's go on with it.

Otherwise, we keep getting fragmented discussions. Some of our

I find the increase noise is distracting and not efficient for those of
us working on these lists. If some are unsure of why these lists exist,
then ask, and we will fill you in. But, surely, some of the topics that
I have read don't really need to be sent to all of the lists. It is also
better to have the discussions done only on one list so that we discuss
for a purpose and not for just discussing.

It isn't possible to follow these increasing cross postings so I delete
them all without reading.

If there is a discussion about something which concerns to more than one

Sorry, I am just finding the recent increase in cross postings distracting.

I am sorry to say, but the trend towards using three and more typefaces
in the logo is not a good one. (Safwan's logos use two, Eleonora's seem
to use four, yours [KJ's] uses three).

Then it would look like (k-j_Bern3):

I wouldn't actually mind if the logo lost the Helvetica part of years
past and was exclusively in Vegur.

Then it would look like (k-j_Bern_Vegur-only):

Hi all,

As you know we have our conference in Bern this year. Could one of you
help with the design of the Logo to support the conference communication?
Here are some examples of what has been done for the previous conferences:

Here are my first proposals:
taking our main conference banner and some ideas from Safwan's proposals.

Please have a look at our branding rules [1]. The 2013 breaks them in an
enormous way. And we shouldn't do that twice.

Hi everyone,

Just as a reminder,

The month of December is fast approaching, and I am wondering if it
would be in our interest to remind our users that, where local
governments allow donations for tax reduction purposes, donations to the
LibreOffice project would be appreciated.

Last year Thomas Elfström made a donation card for this:

Maybe we can work on such things for marketing.

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Redesigning the website

2013-11-07 Thread K-J LibreOffice

Hi Charles, *,

Am 06.11.2013 16:56, schrieb Charles-H. Schulz:

What needs to be redesigned then falls under three categories:

* the design itself (understand: the theme, the general look of the website)
* the content. We may reuse some of it as there are certainly some good bits
available, but we will also reorganize the way we think about the general
presentation of the website. In this regard the discussion about how to engage
users to the LibreOffice community and the resulting survey that has just been
launched will help on this matter. But we obviously need to think about the
landing page.
* while the technical bits themselves are not covered for this specific aspect,
we would need to think about the whole download experience and the download
page itself.

The branding [1] should this time - and not like the last time - not be
ignored.
Any branding changes (colour, logos, fonts) should be discussed by
design and marketing team / community before getting official.
And: Every picture on web page should be available for everyone to work
on e.g. for documentation, stickers and other marketing stuff (not like
the last ones).

Is there a timeline for the whole thing?

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Presentation template for the Milano Conference

Hello everyone,

It's a bit of a short notice, but if anyone could design a presentation
template for the Milano conference, we really need it.

2 elements are required: the LibreOffice/TDF logo and the Milano
conference logo. If you need the latter ping me or Italo Vignoli.

If no one else will do it, send me the Milano conference logo and I will
try to do something like last year's Berlin presentation template [1].
