Michael P (RKOB) clearly does not understand the science behind the current 
public health measures at all. These are measures that a working class 
government would have put in place along with all the other demands for mass 
testing, universal socialized healthcare and OTHER special emergency measures 
to protect the vulnerable from asymptomatic carriers much earlier!! . If you 
cannot in your mind separate necessary public health measures from state 
repression than we are in very dangerous territory.  The working class has to 
use all its powers to force effective public health measures! This has always 
been part of our historic task.

In the last several months, the streets of Chile, Bolivia, and Colombia have 
been filled with militant and confident protesters challenging their nations’ 
neoliberal austerity regimes. In a number of cases, they have formed 
independent working-class assemblies to better conduct their struggle. There 
are strong indications that their actions, along with those who have launched 
similar protests in the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Asia, along with the 
unprecedented mobilizations of feminists, have opened a new era of 
working-class fightback and advances. 

Hear a panel of activists discuss its meaning for working people in the U.S., 
Latin America, and around the world: 

• Blanca Missé teaches at San Francisco State University and is part of La Voz/ 
Workers’ Voice  and the International Workers League

• Juan Pela is a leader of the PTR, the Revolutionary Workers Party

The idea that a Marxist would see this piece on “erasure” important enough to 
post astounds me.   Governments all over the world are trying to make it more 
difficult for trans women to live their lives, get proper health care, and stay 
free from sexual violence, and transphobic murder. And here we have a person 
complaining that they don’t want to be surprised by a trans woman in a lesbian 
space, as if the mere presence of a trans woman means danger, or in a more 
petty vein, discomfort. 

I find this to be plain and simple reaction.  The pure hatred of trans women 
that oozes out of this piece is, in 2019, simply extraordinary. And it is all 
based on two or three anecdotes! It is like an in-group gripe about the out 
group. It is certainly not an ode to anyone’s liberation.

Thank goodness that the movement as a whole is wondrous and gleeful that all 
the decades of struggle have allowed a greater number of trans people to take 
their place in society and the movement and enrich our lives with their 
presence.
