It assumes the US was really going to attack Syria and Israel/Russia helped prevent the attack. More like they helped Obama climb down from a position he had no interest being in in the first place. The point though is that Putin's role is well-known. It is celebrated by a certain crowd the world over, the great peace-loving, anti-imperialist Russia prevented US aggression against poor little Syria. Their problem now will be having to add Israel to Russia in that schema. -Original Message- From: A.R. I think calling that help is an exaggeration, more like they just proposed an idea that Obama agreed with. - Amith _ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com

I wonder if maybe the ulterior motive was to demonstrate that Israel is a reliable ally after all. _ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com

Oren's book, Ally, discloses for the first time that in late August and early September 2013, Israel's then-intelligence minister, Yuval Steinitz, floated a plan for Syria to relinquish its chemical weapons to the Russian government and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received Obama's blessing to move forward with the proposal. full: http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2015-06-15/israel-helped-obama-skirt-red-line-on-syria _ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
