Try to export LANG=pl_PL environment variable or simply type:

LANG=pl_PL mc

at the command prompt. (LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 if you use UTF8ized mc)
This actually sets Polish language. You can use any other supported
language replacing pl_PL with another if it's supported by mc.

Re: Big patch for mcview

I must have had too much time, as I have partly rewritten mcview. The
patch is quite large and changes many things. However, I have tested it
with all available types of data sources (see the code for explanation),
  and it seems to work.

Here is my second try for the viewer. As noted by Jindrich, I
accidentally removed an assignment to view-view_active. This has been
 re-added.

The current patch has been working fine for me for the last few weeks.
I'd like to commit it now, so that I can continue working on the
 remaining issues to mcview.

Well, it was working fine for you except that you were unable to reproduce
a bug which was easily reproducable. No one on the list commented on that
patch - I guess noone even installed it. Well let's hope that in this
particular case silence means agreement. Maybe the next time you don't
have to bother sending to the list at all.

This is not the right list for this kind of questions. Use
mc at gnome dot org .

Midnight Commander Multiple vulnerabilities

2005-04-07 Thread Cleve Philippe
Hi,

Searching information about Midnight Commander on the net, I've found
multiple documents saying:

A vulnerability has been identified in Midnight Commander (mc), which
potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's
system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling
symlinks in compressed files. This can be exploited by constructing a
compressed file containing overly long, specially crafted symlinks. This
will cause a stack overflow when a user tries to view the content of the
malicious compressed file using mc.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 4.5.55 but should
reportedly affect versions 4.5.52 through 4.6.0.

Where are currently using mc 4.6.0 on Solaris 9.

What's the situation in our case?

Does any correction exist?

Regards.

Philippe
