[MCN-L] Call for Papers: The Museum Blog Book

2015-12-09 Thread Graeme Farnell
We're currently inviting submissions for inclusion in an exciting new book
which MuseumsEtc will be publishing early next year: The Museum Blog Book.

Today, much of the most interesting, innovative and passionate writing -
and dialogue - about museums and galleries takes place around some 500
carefully-crafted, thoughtfully-created museum blogs and personal websites.
But all too little of this content enters into mainstream museum discourse
on a regular basis. The Museum Blog Book aims to remedy this.

If you'd like to submit content, our deadline for receiving it is 11
January 2016. Alternatively, please forward this information to any
colleagues who may be interested - we're keen to get a really wide range of
experience into what will be a particularly interesting publication.

Full details of this Call For Papers can be found at: http://bit.ly/MBBCFP

I hope you'll want to participate!

Re: [MCN-L] mcn-l Digest, Vol 124, Issue 5

2015-12-09 Thread Shane Richey
We have been looking at Xibo, and that was our top choice for a bit, however
we’ve started displaying a lot of dynamic content, mostly from our calendar for
things like the day’s program schedule, or the next available guided tours and
I’m a bit hesitant to push that kind of content to a browser that’s
historically not known for being super standards compliant. Have you run into
that issue at all Douglas?

Also, thanks for all the other links, we’ll add those to our list. Right now
Rise is at the top of our list. Does anybody have any experience with them?

The flexibility is attractive, but the prices on their hardware is very
reasonable, cheap enough to order it in for a test to see how well it works
before deploying across all screens.

[MCN-L] 360 video - YouTube

2015-12-09 Thread Shane Richey
Looking for an easy entry into YouTube’s 360° video features and was wondering
if any of you have had any experience with compatible cameras. I know that
highest quality would be with a multi GoPro rig, but we’re looking at easing in
before we go all out. Something along the lines of the Ricoh Theta S.
