Hi all, The Small Museum SIG will also have a table at the MCN Unluncheon/Unmeeting on Friday the 18th from 12:45-2:00pm at Max Lager's (http://www.mcn.edu/sigs-unmeeting-unluncheon-all-max-lagers-restaurant ), despite the fact that I will not be able to attend the conference in Atlanta in person. All, Presentation proposals are still being accepted for the Society of Imaging Science and Technology (IST) Archiving Conference, which will be held June 12-15 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The fast-approaching deadline for submission of a 500 word abstract is November 14. Attendees from around the world represent industry, academia, governments, and cultural heritage institutions. The conference presents the latest research results on archiving, provides a forum to explore new strategies and policies, and reports on successful projects that can serve as benchmarks in the field. Geotags, participatory content, automatic classification methods, statistical analyses, visualization techniques and other technological methods have enhanced the pedagogy and scholarship within the humanities in recent years. With this in mind papers are being sought which present an overview of the digital humanities and information visualization, or which address the current and potential future intersection of the two topics. Special topics for your consideration include: the development of digital technologies and digital humanities tools, data mining applications in the humanities, visualization techniques, the use and re-use of historical data sets, and innovative practices and definitions within the digital humanities and information visualization. We also eagerly invite topics of your choosing which address any aspect of technology within humanities.
