2014-10-08 Thread Tony Harris
***Apologies for cross-posting***

Dear All,

The timetable and abstracts for the AHFAP 2014 UK Conference at the Wellcome
Trust, London have now been published and can be found on the AHFAP website,
links below.

?Best practice?? is the theme of this year?s conference. Technology is
continually improving digital photography and we must manage this change.
What do you consider to be best practice now in the production, storage and
delivery of your images? Do you plan to introduce new methods? Is open
access a threat or an opportunity? What developments or obstacles to your
work do you see ahead?

[MCN-L] 2015 AHFAP 30th Anniversary Conference - Call for Papers

2015-06-18 Thread Tony Harris
Apologies for cross-posting

The Association for Historical and Fine Art Photography (AHFAP) will be
holding its 30th anniversary conference on 22 October at the RAF Museum,
Hendon, London.

ŒCelebration and reflection¹ is the theme of this year¹s conference. Join us
to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our founding in 1985. In honour of this
special occasion we would like to ask for papers that discuss photography in
cultural heritage at the association¹s inception, as well as changes in our
work, equipment, techniques and the sector in general over the ensuing
years. This is a wonderful opportunity not only to look to the future of
photography, but also to understand its history and see how pioneering work
has shaped our industry.

The theme is not exclusive and papers on other topics and techniques
relevant to our sector are equally welcome.

It is planned that the timetable will accommodate papers of 15-, 30- and
45-minute durations. Please submit your proposals to i...@ahfap.org.uk by 31
July 2015.

For further information and to book a place at the conference see
http://www.ahfap.org.uk/conferences/2015-conference

About AHFAP
AHFAP was founded in April 1985 by groups of photographers in the
photographic studios at some of the national museums in London. It was
recognised that closer ties would benefit the profession and the association
has met regularly ever since with an annual conference held in London. The
association¹s main function is to raise the profile of image professionals
in the cultural heritage sector and to encourage the exchange of
professional knowledge and experience. There are now over 270 members in the
UK and Ireland in all types of cultural institutions, from the largest
museums to small commercial galleries and freelance fine art photographers.

[MCN-L] Imaging SIG: New AHFAP Blog post

2015-12-13 Thread Tony Harris
For December's blog post we have the National Maritime Museum¹s (Royal
Museums Greenwich) workflow for cutting out images of complex, rigged ship
models. If you were at the recent AHFAP conference you will recall this talk
by Josh Akin of the museum and the excellent video tutorial he gave, so for
the blog we now have the same video with an audio commentary from Josh along
with a written account.

[MCN-L] Imaging SIG: 2&3D Conference at the Rijksmuseum 2017 - early bird tickets end in 2 weeks

2017-01-23 Thread Tony Harris
There are only two weeks left to register for early bird tickets to 2+3D
Photography Practice and Prophecies - Rijksmuseum 2017.

https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/nl/2and3dphotography

On 10, 11 and 12 May 2017 the Rijksmuseum organizes, an international
conference on 2D and 3D digital photography, best practices, standardized
workflows and a variety of applications for cultural heritage photography
professionals: photographers and studio managers.

The aim of this conference is to provide a framework for international
compatibility on the best practice methods for digitizing our heritage. As
with the 2015 2+3D conference, it will give us a unique opportunity to
exchange ideas on how we could meet the challenges that lie ahead in our
industry. Discussions on how we can incorporate new techniques into
international standards of practice will undoubtedly take place. There will
be a wide variety of presentations given on the two conference days, and on
12 May workshops that address the topics we will have covered will also be
scheduled along with a lot of studio practice.

We would like to invite members of this list to consider submitting papers
for this year's AHFAP Conference, which will be held on Monday 6 November at
the Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre, Cambridge.

This year¹s call for speakers aims to encompass and celebrate all aspects of
creative photography within our sector. We want to hear about what makes us
great image-makers through your work in the studio and on location. We want
to focus this conference on the wonderfully creative images you produce. We
would welcome presentations on your projects, stories, and cross-sector
subjects that support this creativity.

We are also delighted to announce we have Simon Norfolk giving the keynote
speech which we hope will set the scene for an incredibly inspiring
conference.
