Re: [MBZ] Gmail problems
Yes! I have been having trouble with Gmail. Sometimes you'll roll over a thread and it won't turn the cursor active. And clicking won't open the email. Other times you get the thread to open and it opens with the address info., but it's void of any content. Other times it'll just sit there and try to open, say, the inbox and won't do anything. In my "window" menu (I'm using a Mac) it doesn't say "gmail" like it usually does - it says "loading" constantly. Re: [MBZ] Compare 190D 2.2 auto & 300TD
We have the 190D 5 cylinder 2.5 auto tranny non-turbo. I can tell you that it has plenty of pep - not found wanting unless it fails to downshift up a hill. So I would guess (no first hand experience) that the four cylinder auto tranny would be pretty adequately powered. I bet it's peppier than our 240D manual tranny. We found, though I have not checked in recent months, that the 190Ds are overpriced. My wife and I got caught up in our desire to get one and wound up paying $4800 on ebay for our '87 with 268k mi. We regret paying that much, not because the car has been that unsatisfactory, (the only problem has been the alternator coming apart to the tune of $800) but because that's just way too much to pay. We listed ours for sale here in the Western Washington area and priced it according to the current market (which is more expensive than we paid, amazingly!). It seems to me, though, that prices were getting dropped a bit after a while. Cruising down the interstate is probably a lot of work, if today's drive at 20mph is any indication - it is a lot of car to handle and the clutch, shifter, and steering require a great deal of force and care. It is a four-speed with a bizarre shift pattern (incorrect knob in the pics for some reason): R 2 |__| | | 1 3-4 No synchro on first. Third is direct and fourth is overdrive with no clutch required. As many of you have listened and helped me through this with my car I have still had trouble with it. No I do not care to give up! I am suspecting that the in car sesor just doesn't have enough air flow over it. So I have robbed a bosch aspirator from a later model car and am wanting to test this. Where should I get the 12 Volts for this "sucker"! I would really like it only active when the climate control is though am unsure were to slice in. I am thinking that I can scab off the radio for testing it though would rather connect to something more esthetic. Thanks.. Casey, what Jim C said is true whenever you have 2 switches that operate the same window.? It would not be true for the front windows, operated from a CENTER console Jim in phoenix So, one bad switch will cause a non-functioning situation--is that right? [MBZ] OT Heaven and Hell
While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the Golden Gate. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the man. "Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity." "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator. "I'm sorry, but we have our rules." with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises... The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. "Well then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity." The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell." So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the sena tor. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?" The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning.. Today you voted." ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Can the front fenders on a 124 sedan be un-bolted, and a new one bolted on, or is it a cut and weld process to replace one? Re: [MBZ] What Should I Start Amassing?
Generally, if a diesel starts easily when stone cold, there are not compression problems, and oil consumption must then be bad valve guide seals (often compounded by loose valve stem to guide clearance) or failed oil control rings. You won't see smoke until you are REALLY burning oil, upwards of a quart in 100 miles or so (my old 220D). Bad valve guide seals are worth a quart of oil in 1000 miles on any engine, believe it or not, and sometimes they dribble from the factory. On a gasser, ash deposits on the plugs are a sign, but you have to pull the head or use a borescope on a diesel to see the oil dripping off the intake valve. If you get a short puff of blue smoke on startup, especially warm after half an hour sit, suspect leakage past the valve stem seals. Re: [MBZ] 300TE
Yes but do you get a feeling of safety and style in a Superoo. Or is it just a A to B car that will be scrap in a few years time. How will the trim stand up, will it start to rattle and fall apart. Anyway like I said the only way to tell is to test drive a few contenters and then make a decision. If time is not a problem then usually it is possible to find a good Merc that has been looked after. Like with my TE, I looked at a few and they all had something wrong with them and the money people where asking was too much but then by chance I saw one parked outside a used car place and while it has a few things needing to be fixed, it is basically sound and without rust. It has 350K plus on the clock but drives like a car with half that mileage, wonder how a suby will be after those sort of K's? So far I have found no real nasty surprises in the TE. By the time I finished putting a bit of time and money into the TE, it will be a comfortable and safe family truck with the option of being able to carry 7 people or fold the seats down and carry a lot of stuff. Re: [MBZ] What Should I Start Amassing?
The symptoms indicate Valve Stem Seals. A car that idles then produces a plume of white smoke when the car pulls away are typically valve stem seal related. A car that emits white smoke when driving at a steady speed indicates a problem with rings. You indicated there was smoke after stopping at a light IIRC - Valve Stem Seals. You will need to find a shop willing to use compressed air to hold the valves up (with the piston for that cylinder at TDC) while the seals are replaced. Many will say the heads must be removed. Re: [MBZ] Window switch primer
You either need to take the switches apart (do it in a plastic bag so when the parts fly all over they are contained) and clean them, or CHANGE YOUR FUSES! One fuse operates cross-opposite windows. The actual wiring is not clear as there are 3 or 4 wires going to each switch and some of them are common (power on the cross windows). I tried tracing them once and gave up, it might be in the manual somewhere though. The switches get all gunked up, a good cleaning restores functionality (usually). --R Zeitgeist wrote: > Hey, remind me whether the power window circuit requires both switches to be > fully operational in order for the window to function. Remember to set the mail client to leave a copy of mail on the server, or else it will be deleted from Gmail when you sync - which may or may not be desired. I suspect Google keeps a copy of all mail even if you delete it since they have been instrumental in identifying people to law enforcement when motivated to do so. Once it is deleted, it is gone for good as far as us ordinary people are concerned. -Dave Walton On Feb 18, 2008 12:21 PM, E M <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Ok, dumb question, but how do I save an email in gmail to a folder on my > HD. You referring to the little washer that sits behind the front hub that appears to set the clutch spacing? I put the same one back. By eye it looks good, much like the 300E's compressor I had sitting next to it. On the plus side, if it _does_ slip the belt-saver will stop it before there's much damage. It appears to have saved the compressor itself when it seized up.
