After the pills wore off, I found out that hydrocodone does make a difference.
They just timed it so that the pills took over as the anesthesia wore off so I
didn't notice any benefit from the first dose. I took another dose as soon as
allowed at 6:30pm. That's long gone, and it hurts now, but not as bad as it did

I use an Harbor Freight R12 can tapper/hose with R134A gauge set, minus the

You can't put 44lb of propane/butane in a 44lb R12 system.
More like 15lb, but that's about what some of the less honest folks fill a BBQ
cylinder to these days.
You can still make a pretty good fuel/air bomb out of 44lb of R12 when mixed
with aerosol'd mineral oil.

Found something I hadn't heard of before on Amazon yesterday, not ES but sounds
like the same thing, except they claim it works with synthetic oil.
If it was ES that told Manfred to fill an AC system with air, those idiots need
to go out of business so they can quit telling people idiotic stuff (I'm hoping
it was a reseller and not the people you get when you call the phone number on
the can)
Red-Tek on Amazon is more than twice what I paid for a can of R410a earlier this
year, but affordable compared to R12.

http://www.amazon.com/RED-TEK-Refrigerant-Cylinder-Equiv/dp/B00DJDYQFA

You'd probably move more BTUs with 30-35lb of R406a than with 15lb of
hydrocarbons. Looks like Autofrost is no more, the only R406a I found in 25lb
cans was on alibaba, only $40k for 1140 30lb cans. If the stuff is still legal
for sale, one could get rich moving a container of those for $150 each.
Yikes, further searching tells me the Chinese are selling R410a as a R12
substitute and sometimes calling it R406a!!! R410a pressures are through the
roof, you can't even replace R22 with it.

If I needed 30 lb of R406a, I might be tempted to blend my own if the
constituent parts are all readily available.

No way. El stupido, just like leaving it with N2 in it.

Probably, yes. There is no chlorine/fluorine to peel off.
But a used system may have residue in it that could go acidic
in the presence of moisture. Keep the drier!

You could also leave the 134 in and just add the Enviro-safe to bring
it up to the needed output since Enviro-safe mixes with 134 or 12
without any problems.

Yes, I believe you can 'top-off' with HC refrigerants, if

I decided not to share the pain of trying to get rid of SWMBA's korean car. It
has nothing to do with mercedes, other than she sold the E300 and got this, and
I want to put the R107 in the garage instead of the korean car.

Two months this thing has been taking up space. Constantly renewing CL
posting. Lowering asking price in an attempt to spark interest. Rejecting
offensively low offers and know it alls who try to tell me how to sell it
better. Getting very low trade in offers for the thing that are below what was
offered when she was purchasing a replacement. I knew this was a turd on
wheels when she got it.

SO, this weekend, I get a guy who makes a low ball email offer without seeing
the car. He is looking at same model two or more years older and almost twice
the miles, making same price bid as the older cars. Then another guy, never
considered a korean car shows interest and makes appointment to see it
yesterday, but flakes.

Lowball larry and Flaky fred reschedule to see the car today. Low ball is here
first, does test drive, reviews file with all paper since new. Makes a higher
low ball offer which I counter with SWMBA's lowest allowed price. He walks. I
go grocery shopping, having not heard from Fred after telling him Larry did not
purchase.

Flaky Fred calls me while I am mid grocery trip and says he is at my front
door. Dang! While I drive over, Larry texts that he will up the offer a few
hundred. I text that I am meeting another interested party, and take Fred for
a test drive. Fred is kicking tires and might call back after I tell him Larry
has made another offer. And, I return to shopping trip so I can make dinner.

While driving home, Larry calls and says he is really interested and wants to
review the file in the morning so he can chat up the dealership about extended
warrantee SWMBA got that covers the car out to 2020 instead of the short time
standard off the lot. He also wants all manner of paperwork, since SWMBA is no
longer living in the state. I play along, and juggle the cats so this deal
will maybe go through. I had reposted the car this morning, since the listing
expired, and with felines in the air, hissing and spitting, another guy
responds to the listing.

Two months, nobody wants this car, now I have three guys in 48 hours with a
chub for the car.

Oxycontin (aka hillbilly heroin) or in a mix with acetominophen, APAP.

They just timed it so that the pills took over as the anesthesia wore off

I decided not to share the pain of trying to get rid of SWMBA's korean car.
It has nothing to do with mercedes, other than she sold the E300 and got
this, and I want to put the R107 in the garage instead of the korean car.

Two months this thing has been taking up space. Constantly renewing CL
posting. Lowering asking price in an attempt to spark interest.
Rejecting offensively low offers and know it alls who try to tell me how
to sell it better. Getting very low trade in offers for the thing that
are below what was offered when she was purchasing a replacement. I knew
this was a turd on wheels when she got it.

SO, this weekend, I get a guy who makes a low ball email offer without
seeing the car. He is looking at same model two or more years older and
almost twice the miles, making same price bid as the older cars. Then
another guy, never considered a korean car shows interest and makes
appointment to see it yesterday, but flakes.

Lowball larry and Flaky fred reschedule to see the car today. Low ball is
here first, does test drive, reviews file with all paper since new. Makes
a higher low ball offer which I counter with SWMBA's lowest allowed price.
He walks. I go grocery shopping, having not heard from Fred after telling
him Larry did not purchase.

Flaky Fred calls me while I am mid grocery trip and says he is at my front
door. Dang! While I drive over, Larry texts that he will up the offer a
few hundred. I text that I am meeting another interested party, and take
Fred for a test drive. Fred is kicking tires and might call back after I
tell him Larry has made another offer. And, I return to shopping trip so
I can make dinner.

While driving home, Larry calls and says he is really interested and wants
to review the file in the morning so he can chat up the dealership about
extended warrantee SWMBA got that covers the car out to 2020 instead of
the short time standard off the lot. He also wants all manner of
paperwork, since SWMBA is no longer living in the state. I play along,
and juggle the cats so this deal will maybe go through. I had reposted
the car this morning, since the listing expired, and with felines in the
air, hissing and spitting, another guy responds to the listing.

Two months, nobody wants this car, now I have three guys in 48 hours with
a chub for the car.

What is the common name for hydrocodone ? Is it Percocet??

First, descriptions of the base medicines:

OxycodoneDerived from the highly addictive narcotic drug opium, it
 is a semi-synthetic opioid synthesized from poppy-derived
thebaine. It is a narcotic analgesic generally indicated
for relief of moderate to severe pain. It was developed in
1916 in Germany as one of several new semi-synthetic
opioids in an attempt to improve on the existing opioids.

Oxycodone in its ordinary form is a fast-acting pain reliever
that is used to treat breakthrough pain -- that is, pain so
severe the sufferer needs immediate relief. Oxycodone affects
the way the receptors in the brain experience pain.

OxycontinOxycontin is derived from Oxycodone and is mixed with other
ingredients to create a sustained release effect. Taken on a
continued basis every 12 or 24 hours.

Both medications are highly addictive but Oxycodone is more
addictive and should never be taken with alcohol or in any
dose exceeding the one prescribed by your doctor.

Hydrocodone Hydrocodone is a narcotic pain-reliever and a cough
suppressant, similar to codeine. Hydrocodone relieves
pain by changing the way the brain and nervous system
 respond to pain.

Hydrocodone is available only in combination with other
ingredients, and different combination products are
prescribed for different uses. Some hydrocodone products
are used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Other
hydrocodone products are used to relieve cough.
Hydrocodone is in a class of medications called opiate
(narcotic) analgesics and in a class of medications called
antitussives. Hydrocodone relieves cough by decreasing
activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing.

Hydrocodone is lower strength than oxycodone/oxycontin.

Now the drugs as available:

  Generic Name Brand Names

oxycodone and acetaminophen Percocet

hydrocodone/acetaminophen Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Vicodin HP, Anexsia,
Lortab, Lorcet, Lorcet Plus, Norco, Zydone

While Percocet is used to treat moderate to severe short-term pain,
Vicodin can also be prescribed for chronic pain or to control
extreme cough. They are both narcotic pain killers with a risk of
dependency and abuse and are not available over the counter.

APAP is an abbreviation of the chemical name N-acetyl-p-aminophenol,
which is also known as paracetamol or acetaminophen.

After my neck surgery, I was on a morphine-derivative drip (the
particular medicine was 12 - 16 times stronger than morphine, but I don't
remember the name) for 3 or 4 days. Then I was transitioned to oxycontin
(sustained release) every 12 hours and oxycodone every 4 hours as needed.
That continued after I was released and came home. I was then gradually
changed to hydrocodone/acetaminophen and then to acetaminophen by itself.

The narcotics (oxycodone and hydrocodone) caused me such severe
constipation that I REALLY wanted to get off them.

Perhaps more than you wanted to know, but since I have had personal
experience with all of them ...

60,000 was pretty much expected by 1970, and people bitched like heck when

The first car my Dad owned after leaving General Motors in 1969 was a 1969
Dodge Monaco. He drove the heck out of that car but babied it as far as
maintenance. He ended up selling it in 1973 or 4 with over 250k. That was
pretty much unheard of at the time from what I recall.

I don't know what engine it had, other than it being a V8, but I do recall the
most significant work he had done on it was a valve job.

Beautiful car, blue with white accents and several hundred pounds of chrome.
As a kid I was intrigued by the rollers it had on the radio instead of knobs.

Maybe the black foamy stuff on the air doors that breaks down over time?

Put a tissue over one of the vents and put the fan on high. See if there's
anything on it after a minute or two, as a lot of that stuff will become
airborne as it breaks down.

rubber or something when the heat is on.
Anyone have a solution to that sort of thing in a 76 Mercedes?

I am assuming it is either the material in the ducting or else some sort of
rubber seal or padding in the heating system somewhere.

Years back I took apart the heater box in my 68 Chevy pickup and cleaned it
out. There was a rubber pad of some sort that cushioned the heater core and
maybe sealed the edge ( I don't really recall ) but was essentially
deteriorated to where it was uselss. I removed it and used a bit of carpet
underlay in its place. It turned out to be a bad idea as the truck always
smelled of rubber whenever the heat was on and it had not done so previous to
 my installing the carpet underlay.

I am guessing this is something similar but likely just the deterioration of
some original part as I assume the car would not have smelled like that when
 new.

Re: [MBZ] OBD2 scan tool

2014-10-07 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I found a couple of ways to do this, and there are probably more:

First you need a dongle, either Bluetooth or WiFi. This is usually determined
by the device you're going to run the software on. I use an iPad, so I went
WiFi. These can be found in all sorts of configurations on places like Amazon.
My WiFi dongle was about $USD 25.

Once you decide on a device, ideally a tablet or smartphone, the operating
system will determine what apps are available. A very popular and robust one
that runs on Android systems is called Torque. It works off Bluetooth.

I run an iOS app called Dash Commander that uses WiFi on my iPad.

The app I use provides all sorts of real time data as well as OBDII-II codes.
You can program multiple vehicles in it as well, so when you move the dongle
around the data gets saved for that vehicle.

The only thing I have found as a negative is that the app is a major power hog.
I was using it on my phone one day and the phone shut down due to overheating.

Once you decide on a device, ideally a tablet or smartphone, the operating system will

I was using it on my phone one day and the phone shut down due to overheating.

we had campers (Volkswagen and Chevy) back in the '70s that we put a

now, our W123 300Dt with about 255K miles on it is the low-mileage

does it in comfort at speed with relative ease.
the J**p is what we use for Sport, Utility, and to get 'Out There',
and it's got more mileage on it than the 300D. it went over 200K before
it needed anything major (transmission), and i finally rebuilt the motor
at about 250K because i can't replace it with anything comparable on the
market today.
the wife's early '90s Toyoduh is the one that gets burned up on the
commute at over 340K miles. paint looks awful, but the AC, auto trans

don't fit in it), it still passes smog and gets 30 MPG on Regular, so i
can't justify replacing it.

mostly labor. Engine and five speed manual transmission are great, body
finally staying to show a little rust, interior is holding up exceptionally
well (synthetic cloth seats). Decision time...

The brake-torque tire smoke got my attention too.
Turbos were only 1987s, unless the car is modified.
No plastic cladding on the bottom of any 1987 190D that I ever saw, but I've
seen it on a lot of 1990s 190D 2.5.

If it was ES that told Manfred to fill an AC system with air,
those idiots need
to go out of business so they can quit telling people idiotic

it was a reseller and not the people you get when you call the

[MBZ] 123 parts needed

2014-10-07 Thread Curly McLain via Mercedes

Hi everyone.

I need a midnight blue hubcap and a fuel gauge sender for a 123.
Hubcap fits many other types too with 14 wheels. 107, 108, 114,
115. Anyone have some spare parts?

Kaleb, who runs the list, is the spare parts guy, but he's in the process
of moving.

Perhaps he will chime in.
