[MBZ] More mower again
Kaleb, I'll offer another suggestion even though you didn't respond to my last ones. Anyway, I just had a guy come to my house and fix all three of my mowers (two push and one rider). One of the push mowers had the same problem you describe regarding starting. This guy removed the breather/filter, sprayed the card with some type of cleaner, started the engine, and then did his miracle. He reeved the engine via the governor spring several times and then put his hand over the carb. It was like trying to make it backfire, but without the backfire. He pulled his hand away and the inside of the carb was black with carbon deposits, wiped out the deposits and repeated. He did this 4-5 times and that motor just smoothed out and purred. He turned it off and just gave the cable a short pull and it was running like new. He said he was forcing the carbon deposits out. I don't know. I had never seen that done, but that motor is really running like new. It had gotten to be slow power and rough running, plus sometimes you couldn't pull the cable to crank it like it was stuck or something. Anyway, you might try this. It worked for me. The second push mower, he swapped my carb onto a mower he had with the same BS 6.5hp motor and a good deck, adjusted it and bam, it runs like new. Then he adjusted the clutch and brake on my Sears riding mower and it's good to go. He did all this and only wanted $50, so I gave him $60 as a tip, I would have paid more, especially since he came to my house to do it all, but that was all he wanted. So, good luck with whatever you do. Best Wishes, Roger Roger Hale Dinnerware Classics, Inc. I wish you'd said something earlier -- you need to have a filter installed in the suction line to keep crap from the locked up compressor out of the new one -- this is likely what killed the last one. [MBZ] [ SPAM ] RE: Park your Toyota Pious

Date: Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:45:30 -0400 To: mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] Park your Toyota Pious From: mercedes@okiebenz.com Two aspects to your line of question. First, we must pass regulations that would force electric cars to only be charged at night for load leveling. We would therefore be able to have larger baseload plants that could run more efficiently than peaking unit. Problem is that wind machines and solar generators would be somewhat problematic, so nukes or fossil would be the way to go. Some proposals have already been floated and prototyped to use pumped storage of water for a similar solution. During the day the cars, if plugged in, could also amount to spinning reserve that could be drawn from to level peak loads on the grid. After all, they are just big batteries like you would put in your solarwind house. Screw you if you need to get home and your car has been sucked dry for the common good, you should be riding mass transit anyway. The second aspect is a lot cheaper and already underway by our esteemed president. Allowing the Iraniums and NORKs to build their nukes and the NORKs to build ICBMs is providing a near-term solution to the failing electric grid by detonating an EMP or two in the proper locations, hence providing a massive economic renewal opportunity that would put many to work in the subsistence arts and firearms industries. And of course we would need a massive gummint bureaucracy with really smart people who know better than most peons to make sure it was all being done in the fairest possible way to meet all needs. Re: [MBZ] Synthetic Diesel!
Being a capitalist by nature I feel the need to ask the question, what is my rate of return on expenditure to make that one gallon of blue diesel fuel. Just looking at the schematic of the system, I see expensive equipment setting idle waiting for the sun to shine or wind to blow, the land it sets on, buildings to house it, people costs to run, adjust, and maintain it. Then, a very low product flow. Is it economically feasible, when scaled up to commercial volume is yet another question unanswered, without large expenditure of capital. Wonderful idea perhaps, but reality wins... I can drill and develop an entire oil field for what the experiment with this would cost me and the oil will sell on delivery. Fail... [MBZ] Power Steering Pump gusher
Weather has not been cooperating and I was working too much to deal with the PS problem. For the life of me I could not get my head around how to access the silly thing short of tearing the car apart. Today I had less wet weather and crawled under the car to see what I could do. Brake cleaner all over the built up muck to be able to visualize damage and extent of possible future shop bills were I unable to get a handle on the problem. I got the pump loose enough in the cradle to adjust it a bit and figured out I should be able to stuff my fat paws in enough to at least feel for why the fluid was escaping the lower hose. I found out the nut is a 17mm, and when I tried to get the head on the nut it spun a bit. That was WAY to loose. I could not get the wrench on it well enough to move it tight no matter how I tried to stuff my hand or arm at odd angles. It looked like I was going to have to remove the lower control arm. Last visit to the PnP I had snagged a battery tray from the W115 280C that had some rust through but was a real part, not the garbage chinese battery pan living in the car now. I had sanded the OE tray and given it a shot of rust fix rattle can and some generic black coats. The rubberized plasti-cote on the chinee pan had delaminated and rust was rampant. May as well put the real benz pan in, since the battery being used was a 36R, not the group 49. Tiny tray instead of the large one in the car at the moment that left the small thing swimming. The cheapo pan came out and ... whoddathunkit! I could access the dang nut on the PS Hose. Used a crow foot to get in there and tighten it up, then filled the PS reservoir.Even put in a filter, since it came to me without. Gave it some time to burp itself and kept looking at the hose to see if there was seepage. NO SEEPING or piddling so far. I have not fired up the engine to run the pump. The OE battery pan has completely other bolt pattern to hold the pan in. I am not sure how that is, but that is what i found. I peeled the nasty plasticote off the pan, used a wire wheel brush to deal with rust, then rattle can rust fixed it, put a few coats of generic black and am waiting for that to cure before the battery goes back in. Next solution is to get the transmission able to spin the wheels without killing the engine. I am thinking the PO had the transmission adjusted without the shift bushings installed and that buggered up the proper positions of the gears now that the bushings are installed. clay 2002 s430 - Victor, a Stately well tailored chap 1974 450sl - Frosch - Two tone green 1972 220D - Gump - She was green, simple and ran 1995 E300D - Gave her life to save me against a Dame in a SUV POS 1987 SDL - Beware Nigerian Scammers ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Randy, I need to pull the oil pan because somebody back in time decided to fix the pan leak with blue RTV between the aged original gasket. I am not looking forward to that .
