Don't bilsteins have a lifetime warranty? I hear you can send them back and they will rebuild. Never done it . You want to back that statement up with some substance? I’m just trying to decide what to do. Tough to do without some backup. Dan > On Oct 15, 2015, at 7:28 PM, Kaleb C. Re: [MBZ] Meyle vs. Bilstein
Interesting. I opened one of the boxes, and they’re clearly Meyle, as the logo is stamped in the sides of the shock. Looks like a date code of 2008 of some sort. Nothing about COO, but it does say they’re from Germany on the box. Re: [MBZ] Meyle vs. Bilstein
I think about 25 years ago, when I was a college student living on about $400/ month, my '63 beetle handled very poorly. I consulted with the local parts house guys, and their VW expert determined I needed new rear shocks. I'm pretty sure the brand name started with an M, may have been Meyle. They weren't too expensive, I think about $25, and they fixed my problem. Parts guy assured me they were German and the best value. I was sure happy with them. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Meyle vs. Bilstein
Well it's pretty simple, they falsely advertised that you were buying Bilsteins that is not what you got. I have never even hear of Meyle shocks so I have no idea about their quality. Re: [MBZ] Meyle vs. Bilstein
Agreed, and there’s no problem with me returning them for a full refund, so I’m not worried about it. I’ve found a number of references to Meyle shocks on BMW forums, and they’re not bad. It’s funny, as they often talk about how crappy Meyle’s suspension parts like LCAs and other stuff are, but shocks seem to be OK. Keep it coming folks…. Thanks! IDK the answer, but I'm curious if they show country of manufacture. That information would give some idea. I've purchased front end parts from them labeled "Duralast" (Autozone house brand) on the box, but manufactured by Moog. Good stuff very cheap. Throttle linkage: http://handbook.w116.org/Engine%5C617%5C30-300.pdf I suspect the best place for transmission throttle rod and vacuum information is that 1978 mechanic's introduction to 116.120 book that's somewhere at my parents' house, but if I could find the right transmission .pdf it should be there too. Anybody remember the exact designation for the 116.120's transmission? There should be a repair manual for it. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
