[MBZ] Mini Split HVAC

2017-10-02 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
Last year I installed a 1200 BTU “Pioneer” brand mini-split heat pump in my
barn (to control humidity and prevent freezing). I bought it online from an
outfit called HighSEER.com, in FL, for a very reasonable price (IMO).

We just installed a “Trane” mini-split system in the church kitchen and (as far
as I can tell) they are identical.

Hi All,
Against my better wishes, I took the 91 300D W124 to a Indy. My wife
thought they worked on Diesel MBs and the person at the shop thought the
same. Now I'm not so sure. I was getting a short around the wiring
harness going to the GPs. The shop said one of the GPs was bad and I
said, fine replace it - all 5 were replaced 6 months ago - but today they
said the GP was not the problem - he thinks the harness has a short inside
the wiring. (after they removed the intake and put it back).

So I am going to need a used harness or I'm going to have to repair
mine. I'm not sure I agree that the wiring in the harness is shorting
because the 80a fuse in the GP Relay popped, I replaced it and it popped
again before I sent it to the Indy. That seems to say the Fuse is doing its
job, right?
But I don't know if a short will create enough heat to fuse the wires
together as the Indy thinks. Isn't that the whole reason for the fuse?

Max? Kaleb? Anyone? have a used 5 cyl W124 GP Harness? Or maybe I'm
going about this all wrong?

Thoughts?
Larry

OK, was trying to register with MB Classic in case I need something from
them in the future. and when it asked for the VIN I gave it the
following: WDB.EB28D1MB.364746 which is 16 AlphaNumeric (the periods
don't count) characters.  The Classic Registration site says it has to
have 17 characters  but that's all I have...  Any suggestions?

Thanks Kaleb,
I'm operating at a disadvantage here.  I am unable to physically
stand next to the car and R the manifold. Maybe I am now - have been
going to PT.  We'll see.  As I think about it I think my plan is to
repair it as you said and just take my time with the R   I have
almost never used an Indy til now so I'm freaking out a little.

Think I can start it on the starter without the GP's?  The battery is
nice and strong.  I don't really want to have it flat-bedded again --

Thanks again gang!

Re: [MBZ] Glow Plug Wiring Harness

2017-10-02 Thread Larry Turner via Mercedes
That's be great Max - if you go to the PnP please check to see if they
still have one.  I saw some 240D harnesses for between $25 and $50.  Let
me know what you think the going rate might be and I'll let you know if
it's in my budget.
Right now my plan is to pull the Harness and repair it myself.  The
local MB dealer gave me the PN - 124 543 0026.  I'll let you know what
the Classic Center says...

From what I remember of my 240D harness it should be dirt simple once I
get the right gauge wire.    But the harness IIRC is nothing but 6 wires
- 5 going to the GPs and 1 to the ign sw.

Do you recall if there is a cover over the wiring?  All I need do is
test the resistance to find which one (or 2 ?) might be shorted. It'll
be a PITA for me to R the manifold but so be it.  At least I'll know
it's fixed correctly.

Thanks for your comments - I appreciate them.

Larry

[MBZ] OT I can't believe it

2017-10-02 Thread Kaleb C. Striplin via Mercedes
So the DME screwed me over on the cpap machine, I paid $500 to them when
in fact insurance says it should have been around $150 on the EOB I got
later. I had been meaning to call them to complain and lo and behold I
got a check in the mail from them. I guess they are honest even though
they are charging way too much.

Hi All,

thought they worked on Diesel MBs and the person at the shop thought the

Thoughts?

[MBZ] Glow Plug Wiring Harness

2017-10-02 Thread Larry Turner via Mercedes

Hi All,
Against my better wishes, I took the 91 300D W124 to a Indy.  My
wife thought they worked on Diesel MBs and the person at the shop
thought the same.  Now I'm not so sure.  I was getting a short around
the wiring harness going to the GPs.  The shop said one of the GPs was
bad  and I said, fine replace it - all 5 were replaced 6 months ago -
but today they said the GP was not the problem - he thinks the harness
has a short inside the wiring.  (after they removed the intake and put
it back).

So I am going to need a used harness or I'm going to have to repair
mine.  I'm not sure I agree that the wiring in the harness is shorting
because the 80a fuse in the GP Relay popped, I replaced it and it popped
again before I sent it to the Indy. That seems to say the Fuse is doing
its job, right?
But I don't know if a short will create enough heat to fuse the
wires together as the Indy thinks.  Isn't that the whole reason for the
fuse?

Max? Kaleb? Anyone? have a used 5 cyl W124 GP Harness?  Or maybe
I'm going about this all wrong?

Thoughts?
Larry

go to bed before midnight. If I stay up until 2 and wake up at 6, then I feel
like I did before CPAP.

I now sleep the night through 2/3 of the time instead of none of the time, and
most of the 1/3 are nights the dog wakes me up and I realize I should get up
and pee.

2002 Silver Arrows go for that kind of money or a little more. But that's a

As you have been told several times, you need to get an attorney working
for YOU. If you are incapable of functioning, the attorney will be
capable and will see this situation through to its conclusion.

Get a local attorney!

Re: [MBZ] Some electrical issues..runs great needs gas

2017-10-02 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
If "some electrical issues" means "can't get my car out of 2nd gear", then
that's the usual way to buy a W210 or a late W140 for a 3 digit price tag,
nothing unusual there.

"Needs gas" could mean "I'm too lazy to buy a gas can and dump a couple gallons
in the car", but more likely it means "I'd rather not have you hear it run
before you pay me".

Usually flood cars get a flood branded salvage title. Which is a rebuildable
title, but it should always carry a water/flood brand, even as a rebuilt
vehicle.
https://www.copart.com/lot/38900357
https://www.copart.com/lot/40371337

Either way, the Houston CoPart lot must be overflowing with them.
https://www.copart.com/lotSearchResults/?free=true=flood%20mercedes=1

It's also possible to get a parts only / scrap / nonrepairable flood title,
which hopefully the deepwater Houston/Harvey cars get.

Re: [MBZ] OT Kaleb's CPAP

I didn't have any issues adjusting to it. About the only difference I see is I
don't seem to yawn as much during the day especially in the afternoon. And I
have not fallen asleep while watching tv at night, so I guess it's working. I
hardly ever have to get up to make a trip to the bathroom to pee in the middle
of the night. Not really sure why not as I wouldn't have figured it would be
related. One night I woke up a couple of hours before I was ready to get up and
took mask off and it seemed like it was pretty rough, like I could now tell the
difference.

I still need to call the DME and complain about paying the $500 for my share
when insurance said my share should have been $149.
