I didn't got far enough to see the fee, but send them a sad letter from
the non-profit and maybe they will let you in free. If not $50 is way
cheaper than paying a truck stealer to work on it.

If you get the MB number or not, contact the CC with the engine number,
and i'll bet they can come up the the PN and a price in a week or so.

Sadly to download requires a signup and $50 membership. Lots of other
sites promise the manuals for free but seem like a scam.

I've got 2 projects for this engine this summer, it needs the valves
set and it needs an new exhaust manifold. The latter we've known about
for years but its recently gotten much worse. Apparently Pisten Bully
can actually come up with the real thing for just over $1000. They're
going to get us an MB number, maybe we can find a used one.

I've been reading Sylvia's favorites tonight.
https://fearoflanding.com/fun-stuff/my-favourite-posts-from-2006-to-2017/

I just read an interesting one about secure cockpits.
What do you do when the Captain leaves the cockpit and a hijacker uses the
secure cockpit door to lock the Captain out?

https://fearoflanding.com/accidents/accident-reports/hijack-by-the-pilot-ethiopia-airlines/

One passenger, Francesco Cuomo, told the Italian news agency ANSA that he
and other passengers woke up shortly after midnight when the plane started to
“bounce.”

“The pilot was threatening (the hijacker) to open the cockpit door and
tried to knock it down without succeeding,” said Cuomo, a 25-year-old economist
from Italy.

“At this point, a message was transmitted by the loudspeakers in poor
English, but the threat to crash the airplane was clearly understood,” he added.

21:46:14 The aircraft overflies Haarlem at an altitude of 348 feet with an
indicated airspeed of 165.5 knots.

Their route takes them straight past a 479-foot tower which was located on the
outskirts of Haarlem. They then proceed towards Amsterdam’s western harbour
area, flying near obstacles up to 587 feet. They are flying 200' below the
tallest buildings in their area.

When the flight crew was asked if they received training for incidents like
this they replied that an incident like this could not be trained and for that
reason they did not receive such training.

The investigation revealed that the relevant Atlas Blue and Royal Air Maroc
manuals contained all information needed for situations just like this serious
incident. The training manuals contained general guidance needed to address the
incident in a structured manner and the QRH and FCOM contained all relevant
procedures that would have been needed to address the actual damage.

Despite this the flight crew was convinced that they had encountered a
unique occurrence.

5,000. I did 10w40 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter although I always used

Correct for white LEDs. Those are much like a fluorescent in
that the light energy generated is used to make phosphor "glow".
The phosphor "wears out" over time.

Red, green, yellow LEDs do not have this problem. They generate
the light we see directly.

I have been there too. My father was a fan of smaller engines and manual
transmissions. I learned to drive on a full size pickup with an inline 6
and 3 on the tree.
Passing on 2 lane highways meant planning ahead. Fortunately, the
highway that I drove most often was something I knew well so I knew
where the potential passing areas were.
I don't consider my 115 300D a real dog in city traffic and it will
cruise down the highway at a pretty good pace, but it was truly not
built for passing on 2 lane highways.

It is 'on approval' rather than a straight auction, but the $7100 came from
buyers bidding on it in the week leading up to the sale.

7grand is a bit steep for a smashed up car.  If it was a straight-up
auction you could just buy it for cheepcheep and drive it as is as a fun
beater.

I have a friend who is adamantly anti-car, either rides her bike
everywhere or takes Uber.  A coupla months ago an Uber Tesla picked her
up and she was chatting with the driver about the car. She knew only a
bit about it, that it was electric, which sorta appealed to her greenie
sensibilities.  Anyway the driver does a hey y'all homahbeer n watchiss
and puts into insane mode or whatever it is, and floors it.  She got
such a thrill from it she said at that moment she actually understood
why some people are really into cars.  It did not turn her into a car
person, but she developed this newfound appreciation for the whole
deal.  She asked him to do it 2 more times, he readily agreed.

All of my recent group 49 batteries have vent tubes. I've never had a problem
with rusted trays. The AGM batteries have vent tubes too.
About 2 months ago I bought an AGM from Advance Auto which was made in Korea
and cost about $180. I didn't bother with the discount since I was in a hurry.
We'll see how it holds up.

By coincidence there is a battery discussion going on at PTS (Prius Technical
Stuff). Here is one members experience with AGM batteries:

"I bought a battery from the Toyota dealership 2 years ago for almost $300

It is not a vergasser. It will go up and down hills just fine. It is a
diesel. It has torque. They are tons of fun to drive! No other car
has ever been as much fun to drive as a 110/111. They have similar
acceleration times to a 240D automatic. If they are tweaked to 65 HP,
then they accelerate a lot faster.

I expect that it's geared such that it will be fine in town. Getting
on the
freeway and keeping speed up hills might be an issue, but then there
are no

hills in FL ???
