Hmm.

 "...clean Wisconsin title"

"Never seen salt or snow, besides the tiny amount we had down here. [in New
Orleans]"

I'd take it and take the chance. But I'm not sure I could afford
to _get_ it even if it "sold" for zero.

Kaleb's 240d is closer Guess he's not ready to just get rid
of it yet.

FREECYCLE in my area is very picky. Folks ask for specific items and
emphasize that whatever they get MUST be in excellent condition.

And there is some great stuff on offers. I got a waffle maker. I also
gave away a breadmaker and juicer.

most part I didn’t jump on stuff before it posted, but I will admit to doing it
a couple of times. One time was for an i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, a couple of
optical drives and some other computer stuff. The offerer was a hard core

Got a really nice shop vac that hangs in a rack on the wall with all the
attachments. Didn’t snipe that one, jut saw it come across and offered to take
it. Everyone else must have been sleeping.

Got a bread maker, too.

After a few years it just got to be junky stuff. I bailed after being a group

The adjuster pucks do wear out though. Then you get one valve that stops
behaving. Replace the offending adjuster thing and it gets better. Or, since

Yep, and on the engines you mention, check to see if they are hydraulic
valves (don't need adjustment) or mechanical, that will need adjustment.

I've run OM603s hundtreds of thousands of miles and NEVER adjusted the
valves! ('cause they are hydraulic and don't need to be adjusted)

Yup - like the others said - classic sign of valves that need to be
adjusted. Why they go to tighter clearance instead of looser I have no idea
- but I usually found both loose and tight valves when I adjusted them on
OM615, 616 and 617 engines.

Well, most of you folks have much more experience with this sort of
thing than I do, but I will chime in anyway.
My 115 300D got to where it was unwilling to start when it was cold out.
Adjusting the valves fixed that problem and I believe it sounded
smoother after as well.

That's good customer service. Around here, people who drive their
unregistered or expired tag cars to DMV to get the necessary documents or
plates are routinely ticketed in the DMV parking lots.

And the shut off. I suspect the diaphragm being referred to, is the one in the
shut off device or diaphragm.

And here's a few links I pulled up (bored) if anyone is interested.

Re: [MBZ] 400E Fun

2018-02-21 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Any car brought in from out of state has to have the VIN verified when it is
registered. It can be done by a Florida Notary Public, Licensed Dealer, Police
Officer, or Florida Division of Motorist Services Employee or Tax Collector
Employee. No fee involved, just fill out a form, inspect the vehicle and sign
off.

I have a good friend and neighbor who is an attorney that I usually hit up to
do this, but we’ve got a new community service officer (CSO) and this gave me a
chance to meet him. Plus it also meant I didn’t have to drive the car the 3-4
blocks to go to my friend’s house, since it’s not currently registered. I just
called up our local sheriff’s substation and had them put the call into his
rotation. It’s a courtesy thing that LEO will do around here as time permits.

Seat (back) pad is horsehair and has deteriorated. Pretty typical for an MB of
that vintage. Nothing wrong with the covers, the pad just needs to be replaced.
